Haha, I don't think they mean me. I said that I thought Piccolo said Special Beam Cannon in the flashback too but people are saying he didn't, stating he said Makankosappo in the flashback on Nicktoons.Gaffer Tape wrote: Wait, is that referring to me or dragondyle? I think it was Special Beam Cannon on the flashback as well. Though, I can't be sure, as I deleted the episode for space, and was only moderately attentive during that particular flashback.

Ok, watching my Tivo'd episodes now.
Question to anyone who has the DVD/BD, does Son say "Dying sucks..." or something close to that to Kuririn in the uncut dub track?

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
I find it weird that they painted "Tenka'ichi Budoukai" over the Kanji instead of "World Martial Arts Tournament" that they used in the Dragon Ball dub. But still, it was an unnecessary change.Gaffer Tape wrote:Why would it be? As I said in another thread, while I'm sure Nicktoons mandates what is to be edited for their network, I highly, highly DOUBT they do any of it themselves. In fact, I'd say I'm 99.9repeating% sure that, aside from their annoying credit crunching, they do none of the editing. They tell FUNimation this and this needs to be censored, and FUNimation makes a censored version that they hand off to the network. FUNimation even self-censored their own edited product back on CN beyond CN's censorship standards. I mean, honestly, do you think it was Nicktoons that digitally painted "Tenkaichi Budoukai" romanji over the kanji? Would they even have any idea what that means? Mark my words. That's FUNimation.
P.S It's "Romaji" not "Romanji".
Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
Ok, just watched them and Piccolo DEFINITELY says "Makankosappo" on the flashback.

But thank you. I guess I should take this opportunity to point out to a lot of people that it's "eyecatches" not "eyecatchers."

@Demon: GOKU says something along those lies, but does say the word die.
Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
This is just a small thing, but I like how when Piccolo is explaining what the scouter is, Sabat puts emphasis on "Power Levels" as if to show that Piccolo isn't familiar with the term.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

It was also Makankosappo on the 8:30 broadcast as well. I know that I was surprised to hear that in the edited dub.Big Momma wrote:It was Makankosappo in the flashback on TV....at least at the 11:30 re-run.

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub
The domestic release has been censored; even for the private release.
Goku and Gohan's "parts" are edited out or obscured when they're naked, and a good amount of blood has been edited out as well. It doesn't make sense why FUNI decided to do this for the box sets too, they already released the whole series in the uncensored format when they released the dreaded bricks. I don't understand why Kai should be any different.

I wipe it off the tile, the light is brighter this time, everything is 3D blasphemy.
My eyes are red and gold, the hair is standing straight up, this is not the way I picture me.
I can't control my shakes, how the hell did I get here? Something about this, so very wrong.
I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn't like this. Is it a dream or a memory?

Perhaps you're uniformed, or misunderstanding something... but that's how Kai is in Japan. FUNimation's home release of Kai does not "further censor" anything that was already "censored" (changed/adjusted) in Japan for Kai.Ketchup_Revenge wrote:The domestic release has been censored to a degree, and the disappointing thing is that the censorship isn't limited to the broadcast release. That's not FUNimation who did that, Toei is the one who did thatKetchup_Revenge wrote:The domestic release has been censored to a degree, and the disappointing thing is that the censorship isn't limited to the broadcast release. Probably because it's airing in the morning now, people tell me that since One Piece moved to the morning there's been less blood.Ketchup_Revenge wrote:I didn't realize that. Out of curiosity, do you know why they decided to do that?

We get 'cheated' out of footage and blood because Japanese law; it's sad really.
