Goku can only gather energy while in his normal, pure state. Only when he's not gathering can he turn SSJ and keep hold of it. Refer to Movie 7 and Buu vs. Goku in the anime/manga.

I think that's pretty much how it goes.

I think Tom Dubois of "The Boondocks" said it best for me when FUNimation announced the release of the domestic Dragonbox, after buying all of the Season Sets: "MOTHERFUCK!!! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, PRICKS, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIIIIIIIT!"

So why is Goku so negative about the Spirit Bomb versus Kid Buu if it worked against MAXIMUM CARN-er, BROLY?

Well this is obviously different from the events of the actual movie so basically the spirit bomb never really succeeded in actually defeating their enemies before the battle with Majin Buu. Helped against Vegeta and hurt Freeza a bit but did not really work.

I know that, but this minicomic is supposed to fit into 'our' universe.

It worked on Brolly, but it din`t work on Vegeta or Freeza. All kind of things can go wrong and even if it hits the enemy it doesn`t mean a sure victory.

As for SSJ Goku being unable to form a genki ball... I don`t think so. Movie 7 is filler, and while Goku was fighting kid buu I don`t think he stated anything to that effect. He was just already in normal state and there was no point in turning SSJ to form the ball. Besides, he was almost out of energy.

And even if that was true, this is FPSSJ Goku. He´s just as confortable and as pure in this state as he is in normal state.

Yeah I am confused by the note in the first part when it says that the events are supposed to coincide with what happened originally. Yet the events of the last few pages suggest otherwise.

I think Broly's going to end up absorbing the Spirit Bomb or something, which will set him on his path to being totally overpowered compared to the other universe's versions.

That would be weird . . . he isn't an android. Still my feeling is the saiyan's zenkai is the major cause of Broly's growth in strength. Though it would be better if it was not just because he survived this battle but faced other powerful warriors from across the universe.

Doesn't matter. He's Broly. That's just the way things are.

I know it's only a game, but in Budokai 3 Goku can gather energy in any Super Saiyan form. I think it's only a question of for how long he can control that energy.

A Genki-dama would take too long to use (Buu and to a lesser degree Freeza both managed to restrain the Genki-dama for a while), so he'll probably end up absorbing the energy and then delivering the Toei Punch.

Every time I hear that expression I imagine Masako Nozawa shouting "TOEI PAAAAAAAAAANCH" from the top of her lungs.

I can't help it, but the art style of the newer pages just look crappy and fanmade! The early pages up until this "Side-Story" with Broly were brilliant and if you didnt know it, you would have though that Toriyama himself drew them! But know...

Just look at Gokus hand in the first Panel!
One of the few...

It looks like they just messed up his index finger, the rest of the hand looks alright.

My interest in this work dwindles steadily more and more with each of these Broly-centric comics.

The art isn't as spot-on as before, but it's still better than 98% of the fan manga out there.

The chapter's wrapping up pretty quickly at three pages a day, and we can all rejoice once Broli dies.

Although I think I'll rejoice more once Gogeta Jr. returns. I wonder if he's continued to draw ahead of schedule or not...hmm...

I want to know how they get the inking/shading to look so crisp and clear.

Did they ever post a "sketch-to-screen(Sorta)" type of deal with how they typically make pages?
