Typical. :x

If they only knew that, at least animation wise, it's actually the correct one for the first 21 episodes.

I'd still want them to do something like this. They should have a complete fullscreen DVD release that isn't limited edition. If something ever happened to my Dragon Boxes (damage, stolen, etc. Fortunately, I don't think anything happening to them is likely, but I'd like to be on the safe side) then I'd like to have something convenient and decent to replace them. As of now, if something happens to those, I'm forced to get seasons one and two and then get the singles for the rest of the series.

Also, design of the packaging wouldn't be a huge issue, they could just put a banner at the top of the front cover that says "fullscreen" or something like that.

I was going to sell my orange bricks to my brother. and use that money to invest in the level sets glad I haven't done that yet. I just don't want to go back to those orange bricks :(
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

What I would do in your case, if you don't want to wait and see what's happening on with the Blu-ray sets, would be get whatever Dragon Boxes you can (seems to be boxes 3, 5, 6, and 7), get the singles for the episodes found on Dragon Box 4, and keep the orange sets one and two since those Dragon Boxes are long gone, and those episodes never had uncut singles in their entirety.

It'd be inconsistent as hell, but at least you'd get great to decent quality for a majority of the series, with the poor, cropped footage taking up only a small portion, and it'd still be a mostly fullscreen release.

If I had to choose between taking the overhyped, scalper-induced price of Dragon Box 2 and 4, or the season sets for $10-$15 each or singles for the latter, I'd take those over the Dragon Boxes. No way in hell I'm paying $200 for a release that was $40 only a year ago.

Thank good heavens I'd gotten the Dragon Boxes as they came out.

(EDIT) In light of your recent post made during the writing of this one, you would only need to get the singles for vol.4's episodes, keep the orange brick of season two, then get DBoxes 3, 5, and 7.

Yeah, I'm going to haft to do something. Thanks for the info, But I'm hoping that Funimation get's their shit together. This will make the 3rd time this has happened to me. First the Ultimate Uncut, Then the Season Sets being cropped into 16x9 with lines of animation being deleted or so bright you can't even see their skin color? Now this? Seriously Funimation? I'm not going to go ape shit, until I hear from VegettoEX are other trusted members that It's time for me to jump ship.

Maybe if more people had bought the Blu-rays this wouldn't have happened, but remastering manually must've been a nightmare for them.

Hopefully they won't come up with a cheap ass solution that sacrifices its quality.

FUNi could have waited for Toei's DBZ remaster and instead release Dragon Box - Dragon Ball / GT / Movies (Inc. TV-Specials/OVA).

I just keep thinking about that machine they ran the Season Sets through. Sitting there, watching, waiting, for the right moment to be filled up with gas and strike again.

It isn't overly surprising if you consider the details (I'll admit it surprised me and seemed to come out of nowhere to me, but overall... not that surprising.)

It consumes a decent number of people who could be working on other projects (and it isn't cheap) for them to do the work, for sets that sell quite cheaply.

More than likely at some point (better chance especially with Kai sort of going poof in Japan) Toei will remaster for BDs, and with them not being as steel gripped as they have in the past it's likely Funi could get those masters (and possibly get them quickly if they helped fund any remastering work.) Especially when a proper remastering of Toei's film would likely look better than what Funi could do.

And frankly, even if Toei doesn't... waiting awhile for Kai to cool down from TV, they may be able to get someone to help fund remastering it to air it in HD on TV.

HD TV channels are only able to do up to 1080i, aren't they? Think they do.

Oh man, that evil machine... It's as if it has a mind of it's own!

...

...That would make a good "creepypasta".

What the heck is that a picture of anyway? Probably a stupid question, but just curious. Either way it's pretty funny in the context you put it in.

Ah darn, that's too bad. I was looking forward to buying them at some point.

Well, I hope they get to a "10 dollar or less" price point soon enough at least. I'd like to own them for the sake of it.
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

I found it on Google images. Just me being silly :) But I could see the people at Funimation starting that thing up and saying ''Aight boys let's fire this thang up! git er ah going we's gonna remaster us sum film'' they insert the crankshaft into it. Brum Brum lol I better stop or I'll get in trouble :P

This makes me mad! They better be continuing them later because its the only release of DBZ I like with the correct colors and both music tracks. I just finished watching my 1.2 disc today and was waiting for the other. Hell I just bought all the Dragon Ball sets this fall because of this release.

Your responses around here lately have been antagonistic, half-nonsensical, and now just plain ol' rude and off-topic. If you want to remain a member, I highly suggest you take a step back and re-evaluate how you present yourself.

Well, slap me silly. My fault for making that thread, then. :P

This is pretty unfortunate, I'm just glad I haven't bought any of them yet...then again...anyone think the volumes released could end up being worth something someday?
