I think you spoke too soon there are clearly some individuals here that aren’t looking foward to this film. I should know I’m one of them but in my case it’s because especially given this new trailer. Nothing is getting me not speaking for everyone interested except for Goku Broly Beerus.
To me that’s a HUGE blunder by Toei if I can’t get a large majority of the older/dedicated fan base to rally behind & get excited for this film like they were for the last. Then the expectation of winning over new fans is nothing short of a fantasy.Making good DB movies isn’t quantum physics as Toei seems to believe. They also never needed to be some Disney/Pixar trend chasing for $$$ crap with half baked 3-D. Stick to the formula:
Keep it mostly action ABSOLUTELY keep it 2-D hand drawn, keep it fun, hit key moments/scenes hard, the rest can be whatever as long as its serviceable. BOOM 100 million+ grossing DB movie.
Now they are in the 11th hour closing in on the theatrical release date & in a position where the storytelling has to absolutely be on point & carry the movie and that has always been the weakest part of Dragonball & Toriyama as a writer. Yet we have no indication of even remotely what the plot is ya know the part that’s supposed to get ppl excited.

We have a very clear indication what the plot is. We have character bios, we have a trailer, we have everything.
I love the new poster so much. It feels like the classic posters we'd get for the DBZ movies back in the 90s. It also gives me manga volume artwork vibes with how Gamma 1 and 2 come out of the page. This might actually be my favourite poster in a modern Dragon Ball film.
Plot wise, I'm looking forward to this way more than I ever did for Broly. It will have: slice of life (huge fan), Gohan and Piccolo as main characters instead of Goku and Vegeta (awesome), a small timeskip (awesome), Piccolo with a new form (it looks horrid and one of the laziest pieces of crap I've ever seen, but I'm glad Big Green is getting something) and the possibility of seeing Cell again, or maybe even 21 (also awesome).
But that CGI animation man.. pretty much ruins all of my hype. Everytime I look at trailers, it makes me think I'm watching video game cutscene.
Btw I hope Pan will pull a Saiyan saga Gohan and saves his daddy and or/uncle after seeing them getting beat up.
I don't care for Ulitmate Piccolo/Unlocked Potential Piccolo, especially considering it's being used against such a non-threat as the Red Ribbon Army in a throwaway plot. It's like when Vegeta attained and utilized Super Saiyan God in DBS Broly or in the Future Trunks arc of the DBS manga, it means nothing for his character and he only has the form because another character that is of close association of him already had it and used it in a prior significant event, so there feels like an obligation that he must have it too.
That plot sounds incredibly thin and I have no idea how they plan to stretch that out to 90+ minutes. I'm praying that a good chunk of the runtime will be spent on giving a lot of character development for the antagonists, much like Battle Of Gods and/or to develop the relationship between Pan, Gohan and Piccolo.
And the 3D animation still doesn't look good in motion.
I still wish the movie was more than just "The Red Ribbon Army is coming back" again, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

This story is not sounding original at all. I should have noticed that when Frieza wished to be taller that it was a sign of the RRA coming back.
Still can't believe this is real. It seems like a bad tv special. Mediocre CGI, uninteresting villain designs, a half assed plot.
Perhaps worth a download but I'll probably just read the wikipedia summary once it's out and save myself the time and disappointment.

Looks great and has me excited. Piccolo's power up form loses arm lines, probably for future manga adaptations to make visual sense. Wonder why his belt is black in that scene.

I'm sure they will work it out considering they mentioned that Piccolo will be training Pan and this was stated way back when the movie was announced. I'm also sure the story isn't just RR army reforming. They're specifically targeting the Son Family and they have knowledge on Goku, Vegeta and Majin Buu going by the trailers, so there has to be a motive behind this. The RR guys are surely up to something
Ayoo Big Green got a power up that's pretty sick. Overall the movie isn't looking too bad and while personally I prefer hand drawn over CGI, I don't find it off putting in this case and I think Toei did a pretty good job.
People say its Cell or android 21 on that machine at the end, but I'm thinking, what if its just the driver fused with whatever was on that machine? they had a wird fixation on the driver on the first panel of the movie like he was very important, maybe he wants to betray the RR army and he falls or enters that machine and boom, new villain?

Wow. It’s been so many years. So many years I’ve been wanting Piccolo to get some sort of relevance from a power standpoint.
And it’s happening. Finally.
Pretty dope.
I've been wanting this too, but don't get too excited, everytime he gets a power up it looks impressive at first but then he ends being no where near Goku's level.

I'm kinda expecting Cell to walk out of that machine and absorb Gamma 1 and 2.

Carmine gives me Officer Black vibes from the Red Ribbon arc. He could end up betraying Magenta like Officer Black did to Commander Red and try to defeat Gohan and Piccolo himself. His character bio says that he has a “cold-hearted side” and that he would “not hesitate to use any means necessary to complete his mission.”
That machine at the end of the trailer has a stairway leading to the inside of it. Maybe Carmine runs inside it, knowing that it’ll make him stronger, and ends up being the final baddie of the film. It would be really bizarre for a character like 21 or Cell to appear at the end of the film as the final villain without having any lead up or introduction during the film. Carmine seems to be in the whole movie.
Imagine the outrage when people find out that Cell isn’t the secret villain and it’s just this dude with the funny hairstyle. I actually really want this to happen now.
So, Android 21 is a definite possibility, right? I don't even know how I feel about her, FighterZ did nothing for me with her, this could be her shot.

The online distaste for this film is ubiquitous(outside of Kanzenshuu) and personally I haven’t met a fan or casual anime movie watcher who doesn’t actively dislike this film, mind you those of us who took a sec to take off the rose tinted glasses of fanboyism all knew it straight up dog shit from the get-go.
On the other hand, I personally haven't met a fan or casual anime movie watcher who has watched this film.

And I see mostly positive comments on twitter posts and videos concerning the movie, so like whatever man.
Clearly ObnoxiousNamek gets a kick out of being obnoxious and trash talking the movie non stop.
I don't think the plot is thin. From the summary alone the plot is more complex then a majority of the dragonball movies at least in the top four or five.

I mean...all Dragon Ball movies pretty much consist of "evil bad guy appears; Goku punches him in the face really, really hard."
Honestly this looks fine. I don' t get that this is meant to be an event film like Broly was so I'm not going out of my way to check it out in theaters. But I'm sure it'll be fine.
