Amazon says region 1 only but it will proabaly be region 2 also. Do not know why it would not be.

Breaking Region isn't really difficult at all.
I have every Japanese Volume of Hellsing (OVA) Region 2, and I can play them not only in my computer, but in my DVD player as well!!
Here's what you do:
For Computer: Download VLC Media player, it breaks Region.
For DVD player: some players have a hack you enter into your Remote that makes your player "Region 0" (As in it plays all Regions) so look up your model number, but even if you don't there's a REAL easy workaround that works for most players. This is the best method, I'd go with this if your DVD player can do it because this way you only have to fiddle with it once, and then watching other region DVDs is the exact same as watching normal ones.
The Other method you have to do every time you want to watch it, but to do it just put the DVD in. Then you'll be given a message akin to "DVD Region invalid". then, instead of hitting play or menu or something, hit the DVD's Number Keys "01" to go to the first chapter and it should start playing the first chapter. If you want to get to the Menu at this point, DO NOT hit the Menu button, that will give you the "DVD Wrong Region" message again. Just use the "Next Chapter" button to skip to the final chapter of the disc, and then fast forward it until you get to the very end of the disc. Once the video finishes, the DVD should roll over into the Menu.
I have an RCA DVD Player/Recorder and this works for me no problem. It should work for most, if not all players.

Wow, that's ingenious! You'd think that region protection would be a bit more secure than that... huh.
Very nifty tip regardless.

As long as there's no extra protection on the disc VLC will play it fine. I have a dvd from england though and unless I use some extra program to get around the macrovision stuff, the video in VLC glitches around like crazy.

Read about it somewhere.
I own all of Hellsing in Region 2, so I popped Hellsing I into my DVD player to test the theory.
It worked perfectly.

I've used the "enter a code" method on DVD players before and it does indeed work. The annoying thing (for me) is that it seems to work more on cheaper DVDs players. My friends £30 one was easily converted to region 0 whereas my £250 5.1 surround sound one isn't listed on any of the code sites.
PC DVD-ROM drives can change region a set number of times anyway. Say mine is region two when I buy it, then I put an American DVD into it - at this point it changes to region 1. It now has, say, 4 more changes left. So let's say I put a UK DVD, a US DVD, a UK DVD and a US DVD in, it's now locked as region 1. However, programs like DVD Region Free stop this countdown from occurring.
There's also something call Region X (or similar) which makes the PS2 region free for DVDs, but the catch is that you have to put the disc in each time before you want to watch a DVD from another region.

I thought modding was the only way to watch R2 DVD on PS2?

I really wanna get the Dragonbox but have never shipped international before and hope people would help me with this.
People outside US who have shipped stuff from RightStuff do help to answer my questions.
I haven't had an international Shipment from them, but I've bought Every single One Piece DVD from them, and I wouldn't imagine the shipping was quite different. I'll see if I can answer your questions at least in part!
anvil wrote:Do the DVD box set come in good conditions (tears, dents, scratches?)?
Is the DVD box set bubble-wrapped and place in a shipping box?
Is the DVD box set "held" in the shipping box? or is it simply being place inside the box with nothing to hold in it position?
1: I've never had any damage to any sets coming from Right Stuff, they're always in perfect condition when they arrive, and I've ordered a LOT from them. 6 One Piece DVD sets, The One Piece Movie, Hellsing IV, Both seasons of the GetBackers, etc.
2: It's Held inside the Box with Cardboard around it to keep it from rattling around. IE, it's got Cardboard holding it in place inside the bigger Cardboard Box.

I have a matshita drive in my computer, sad to say. Nothing I've tried on the damn thing works. It's definitely something I plan to check for in future PC purchases.
Of course, I *live* in Region 1, so for the Funibox that's not an issue in the slightest.

Not a bad recommendation. Internal's gonna run you a lot cheaper, though.
Or you can do what I do... rip all your non-R1 DVDs to break the encryption and then just re-burn 'em back to DVD+/-R(DL).

All this talk about breaking region codes shows just how pathetic and pointless region encoding really is.

When that "Chapter 01" method worked and I found out how easy it was, I thought "Why do they even BOTHER?!?!?..."

Amen to that, I never really saw the point of region locking. I mean, I know the reason is to stop people from importing stuff available locally for a cheaper price. But people break the regions anyway... and not even for that purpose, but to get things not available in their own region. It's a pretty big mess.

I tried it and it doesn't work. I guess it's because my player is an older model.

You got that right, laserkid. Region locking serves no purpose than to hold customers hostage by their local media companies rather than giving them the best deal possible for their DVD media.
Down with region locking and its hostility to foreign DVDs.
