Why are folks so obsessed with the possibility of Cell returning? Is Gohan not allowed to move on as a character? It'll just add to the problem of Super rehashing a bunch of old ideas.

I don't think the plot is thin. From the summary alone the plot is more complex then a majority of the dragonball movies at least in the top four or five.

That's not a high bar.

I love DragonBall and watched DB, Z, GT and even Super but most of the original movies were a struggle to get through. They are some of the worst and non-sensical DB media out there, perhaps even worse than Super.n

Honestly this looks fine. I don' t get that this is meant to be an event film like Broly was so I'm not going out of my way to check it out in theaters. But I'm sure it'll be fine.

This film has a predictable plot I guessed correctly why Gohan would go to RRA headquarters. Not interested in Gohan and Piccolo fighting two characters that are not villians.

Hope Cell shows up so that Wakamoto can just scream a bunch. And then Gohan punches him real hard but Cell doesn't die because it's more interesting to let the character be in a bunch of more situations.

Nice, I like Piccolo’s new form to be honest and I am happy to see that he’s finally receiving a power up.

I would bet that he will obtain this form by drinking Karin’s water, which would explain why they included the cat in the plot after so long. And Piccolo only drinks water so it’s a perfect power up for him to go through.

How do you guys think Piccolo will get this new form?

Being a Potential Unleashed there are so many ways to get it:

a) The perv Kaioshin's ritual, he went there and got it from him. Sounds unlikely, how or why would he go to that planet, and how did he convince him? is Piccolo travelling to other godly planets with Play-kodomo under his hat?

b) Went to Namek, for whatever reason, maybe after Moro, to see how everything was going, and some elder namekian offered him to unlock his potential.

c) Dende did it for him, new ability for god, too.

d) After training with Gohan for so long, he somehow got the gist of it and got there by himself.

I would like option B, more namekian lore and interaction and also to tie the movie with the Moro arc (and the manga), but probably it's going to be option D.

Lol, There's still a possibility that Pan might unlock Super Saiyan in this movie if she sees either Gohan or Piccolo in a near death situation because that will enrage her

Oh that's an option I didn't consider.

E) Sacred Water... it makes sense. Karin being there, namekians and water. It could be like a last resort thing after a beatdown or something.

I don't care for Ulitmate Piccolo/Unlocked Potential Piccolo, especially considering it's being used against such a non-threat as the Red Ribbon Army in a throwaway plot.

Yeah, It's always nice to have different characters getting power ups, but I'm still worried about the impact this will have on the plot.

Despite Piccolo being at the center of the film, he will still be sharing attention with Gohan, who will likely take the lead in the main battle. So even with this new form, will Piccolo remain in the same position we've seen since the beginning of Super (aka Gohan's sidekick)? And this is also a movie with low stakes and smaller scale threats, so this new form apparently won't be something that will allow him to be more relevant in the main cast in future arcs (power-wise, at least). They're not promising a game changing power up but if they're going out of their way to give something new to him, I'd like it to be something relevant in the long term or to have an impact on future stories.

Of course, all these things are mostly speculation at this point, but at least for me it's potentially concerning

No way we're gonna get that (As much as I would love it and how it's way overdue).

Primarily due to the fact that SSJ Pan would completely throw a spanner in the works of the whole "Goku leaves his family and friends for Oob because he has so much potential" ending in the manga. Think about it. If Goku knew about a toddler becoming an SSJ, he would drop everything and focus on that. That kind of potential is what Goku lives for as a martial artist who thrives on a challenge whether it is with himself or others. Why would Goku bother with Oob when he could have the youngest SSJ in history under his wing?

This movie touches on a lot of the requests from fans:
- Focus on other characters besides Goku and Vegeta
- Such characters even getting the symbolic new form/power up
- New designs for other characters, mainly Goten and Trunks

Personally I'm way more interested than for the Broly movie.

Hopefully Pan proves important to the resolution of the arc and isn't just saved, like her father against Raditz.
Piccolo and Gohan getting a tag team win would be great and consistent to their recent portrayals.
Finally I hope Goku and Vegeta do not interfere, let them stay fair away. Give them 10 m with a sequence against Broly and some fun interactions.

Ps: The lack of Videl is disappointing, with her daughter and husband having such a role I would expect her participation even if secondary.

Well each of the half-Saiyans was the youngest SSJ in history at the time they achieved the form but all eventually lost interest in training. The same might happen to Pan. Goku is still interested in training Uub even after meeting Broly who surpassed Blue in less than an hour. Goku's training Broly in Super Hero but maybe it ends with Goku helping him gain better control of his power before moving on to Uub in a year or two.

I don’t know if folks here are obsessed with that. I absolutely don’t want that, but this is modern Dragon Ball, so it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what they’re doing. The past two movies already established a trend of bringing back older villains.

Piccolo having a new form is surprising. Never expected him to have one at this point. Pan unlocking SSJ would be ok since its not special anymore. I don't understand why she didn't get it in GT, while Goku/Vegeta jr did...

I think if an iconic villain like Cell returned they wouldn't keep it secret for so long. Hopefully it's something else at the end of the trailer. Wouldn't mind to be Android 21.

Super Saiyan is not special anymore and according to Moro arc, Uub may have God Ki. Seems a good reason for Goku to focus on him.

Nah, I doubt so. Every single Pan appearance to this point shows that she loves to fight (EoZ, GT, Superhero, Xeno Pan).
