The enemy has to attempt to switch out (like Goku zooms away and Vegeta jumps in). It'll come up with the option to hit the right trigger and a face button (similar to boosting a super move).MasterVampire wrote:How do you do those sky clashes in this game?
You know its like pushing a button at the right time while u and the CPU and crashing into each other in the sky.
I'm not talking about knocking someone back and then ping ponging them around.
Then you'll have to hit a series of buttons. However hits them first wins. If the one switching out loses, then the guy switching in will take a hit. If he wins, then the guy switching in will land a hit on the loser.

I just got the game in the mail. It's... like having Tenkaichi 3 all over again. Exactly the same. I have to learn everything all over again. It was a bad move to change the controls. I do like the animations and I feel like each character is more unique than they were in the previous installment.
I have to review the game for YouTube... But I don't have the time to unlock all this stuff. I guess I'll just go to the store and buy a cheating device... Or a memory card and transfer kit.

That's my biggest problem with the game. I can tolerate the bad camera, changed controls, and overall sameness but my god why do I have to jump through so many repetitive hoops just to unlock a fucking costume!?Innagadadavida wrote:But I don't have the time to unlock all this stuff.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I fully agree, they could of at least let you obtain like 10 stars on a wish to the Dragon or something.Chrono Trigger wrote:That's my biggest problem with the game. A friend of mine bought this. I helped with a bit of the story mode. Okay what the hell is wrong with the What-ifs? No idea if broly is the same bt played the SSJ3 vegeta one. It was not really a what if IMO. What-ifs should have you know small things like a basic plot. The story was basically:
"I am strong"
*transforms to ssj3*
"I want a fight"
*fight*
sure the bad camera and easy controls stopped me buying it but I admit I was curious. I expected something kinda cool. But no it was half assed. It was the kinda of thing a child would come up with playing the game. It's official this game fails in every way.

I've continued disconnecting every time my opponent picks Vegito or Gogeta. It's worked out thus far. Haven't lost too many matches. It's pissing me off that so many people use them. I mean, 15 out of the top 25 are either Super Vegito, Gogeta, Kid Buu, or SSJ2 Gohan, at the moment. Out of a roster of over 70 characters, could no one really decide on anyone else? It's the same thing as going online in Pokemon and fighting a bunch of Ubers. No fun.
On an awesome and cheerful note:
I hopped into a play match earlier and I had an intense five round fight with some guy. I'm on the right. I'll bold the winner.
Majin Vegeta vs Goku (Normal to SSJ2)
Vegeta (Normal to SSJ2) vs Goku (Normal to SSJ2)
Cell (Normal to Perfect) vs Raditz
Freeza (First form to 100%) vs Vegeta (Scouter)
Then it was time for the final round. It had been a series of extremely close matches, but I'm pretty sure we both whipped out our main characters.
Trunks (Fighting) (Normal to SSJ) vs Bardock
It was an awesome battle.

Just when I thought collecting Dragonballs(over, and over, and over again) was tedious, they go and pull this star crap. I'm all far re-playability, but that doesn't mean I want to play the same story mode again(especially since I've been doing it for 7 years).NeptuneKai wrote: I fully agree, they could of at least let you obtain like 10 stars on a wish to the Dragon or something.
If they were smart they would give you the star point objects from the start instead of after you finish the fight for the first time. At least that way, it would make the fights more interesting and less like a chore.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

On another note, does anyone know if there's an item that starts you out as battle damaged? I know there's one that preserves your clothing, but I think that's stupid. I want to look awesome and all battle damaged.

Well, they really did change thing from Tenkaichi 1 to Tenkaichi 2, the changes were more noticeable than the changes from Budokai 2 to Budokai 3, even. Keep in mind that the transition from Budokai 3 to Burst Limit was slow, they first made slight changes to Budokai 3 to Shin Budokai, then from Shin Budokai to Shin Budokai 2, then, finally, from Shin Budokai 2 to Burst Limit. Honestly, Spike probably changed their game more than Dimps did at first.Rory wrote:> implying Spike, the company that have been giving us the same game for the past 5 years, are smart about their gameplay decisions.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:If they were smart
(Budokai 1 to Budokai 2 did not have many changes, besides a better graphical style, and more characters, both of which have nothing to do with gameplay. The only thing that I noticed was that the ki blasts like the Kamehameha Wave can be used easily now, and that Special moves, rather than having nothing, have these stupid fucking events where you need to rotate the joystick against the computer (or player). When I did this on the computer on Hard, I broke two of my controllers and partially bruised my palm trying to beat the computer, and I STILL lost each time. Fuck you, Dimps.)
So, yeah, Spike was, at least, no worse than Dimp, but yeah, they really fucked up now. I thought this game was going to blow chunks, and, hey! It did. Go me.

I gave up. I took this game back to the store yesterday. That star point bullshit was probably the worst idea ever. It's not that I couldn't do it but it feels like a chore just do it. I could see if this game was actually fun but playing battles over and over and over again with the terrible camera...I just couldn't do it man. Why do they charge you 7 points for costumes that aside from a symbol are exactly the same? Then I look on Youtube to see if SSJ3 Broly/Vegeta are even worth unlocking only to find that they really aren't all that different. 20 star points for that? Fuck this game...I'm sorry but this was a huge step backwards from the last one.

Tsk, tsk.
Kids today...no patience, I tell ya, no patience.
I'm joking, btw

They did more than up the graphics, they upped the frame rate for character movement. I don't know if you have played it in awhile, but go back and play Budokai 1. Everyone in that game moves so damn slow. They also tried something completely different and fresh with the story mode. I have to say, back then I hated Budokai 2's story mode but after playing the same shit over and over again going back to that might be a nice bit of fresh air.Deep Thought wrote:(Budokai 1 to Budokai 2 did not have many changes, besides a better graphical style, and more characters, both of which have nothing to do with gameplay. as for the joystick thing, Dimps has nothing on Raging Blast. This is actually the first game I got MAD at for making me use the joystick. I never had a problem with Dimps even in hard mode but with this game, when it comes to CPU characters I just give up. No matter how hard I try I can never win.
*oh and here's a tip for Budokai 2 and 3, don't just use one stick; use both. I know the icon only says to use one stick but 2 gives you an extra boost. My friend taught me this and it works EVERY TIME!*

It depends. During the fights in Budokai 2, it wasn't so bad. But I can't tell you raw my palms got from making Roshi spin so much during those load screens.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote: as for the joystick thing, Dimps has nothing on Raging Blast. I dunno how that was so much fun....but it was...

I was really disappointed with this. Granted, I don't game anymore, but I was looking forward to watching clips on YouTube of how these characters achieved SSJ3. The story is the only significant aspect of the transformation; if you wanted them to be more powerful, just up their stats.SSJmole wrote:The story was basically:
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I think it's better to have seperate fighting games for the three series. That way, it gives the game developers time to focus and develop games, rather than having a mainly DBZ game with DB and GT story modes and characters as little bonuses.bkev wrote:Haha... we actually expected a game that covered all three...The S wrote:I actually just noticed that myself upon second viewing.SonGokuGT wrote:YES! Of course, they're not gonna do that, are they?
