Don't be arrogant enough to put words in my mouth. I never once wrote something could've been different or I don't like something, so you can stop right there.Jinzoningen MULE wrote: Your whole position boils down to "He could have done X differently" or "I don't like this", therefore, they aren't stakes. Very little you've said actually has anything to do with stakes, though. You're just frantically apologizing for the U6 Arc because you enjoyed it more. That's fine, but you're making yourself look ignorant because you lack understanding of why things like self-improvement matter, or why one would want to defend their honor, or avenge a friend. For you, interesting stakes boil down to how big of explosions they can make. For some of us, personal implications for the characters are more potent. Just because you're in the Splodey Camp doesn't mean that nothing else can qualify as stakes, it means that you understand the big flashy threats better than the character-driven ones.
Call what I did 'apologizing' all you want. Doesn't change that only the 23rd tournament had any real stakes outside a bruised ego. And when did I say I enjoyed the U6 tournament more? And you say I don't understand self-improvement? Yeah, whatever
Splodey Camp? Yeah, you can sit down with that. You can love those tournaments all you want and prefer them over U6. Doesn't change what I said. A character going home with a bruised ego are hardly stakes, no matter how you try to slice it.
