The problem is that the dub was finished 6 years ago. They just can't change it because they've already finished it. Maybe if they decided to do this while they were still dubbing it, but now, it'd just be strange.

See, this is what I don't get. If your car got ran into and you could still technically drive in it, but not afford to fix or replace it for six years, I garantee you that when that sixth year came up and you finally had the opportunity to fix or replace it this wouldn't be how you think. You wouldn't stick with the clunker because the damage is done, you'd get yourself a nice new car. It might even be strange to drive a new car after six years, but that wouldn't factor into you deciding to continue to ride in a banged up vehichle.

You may well be very upset that you can't drive the model of the car you love, but you're still not going to go on about how you can't fix it.

That's a bad example. There's a big difference between a TV production and a car. A car can be tuned up at any given time. A TV show has some form of an expiration date and once it's over, well, it's over. It wouldn't make sense to alter it for releases of it. No matter how much you think Faulconer's music doesn't belong on this set, it's still what's synonymous with the dub. Releasing the DBZ dub without it's music is like say, releasing Season 8 of That 70's Show but replacing Randy Pearson with Eric in every scene. You should leave a TV show as-is when you release it regardless of flaws. You guys talk all the time about how you want DBZ to look like how it looked when it aired on TV, regardless of how aged it looks. Well, guess what - we want the DBZ dub to be shown how it was when it aired on TV. I don't see how unreasonable it is to ask for that.

In the show the dub fans are a fan of, Goku makes big, grandiose speeches on morality and forgives Vegeta.

"Ally to good, nightmare to you"? Goku would never say anything of the sort! He may think it, to some degree, but he isn't sophisticated enough to articulate something like that. It's not in his character.

To completely miss the point of the characters as they are intended is to reinvision the show itself. And trust me, this is not an isolated incident. There's examples of this in the script from the beginning to the end of the series.

This isn't like the difference between the Japanese version of an anime and the usual dub, the dubs were used to know, the ones that are just the Japanese show, but in English.

Can you honestly tell me that hillbilly manchild Goku and white knight Goku are the same character? Bad because he wants to be Vegeta and misunderstood product of Freeza's influence Vegeta are the same character? Well-mannered, but brutal tyrant Freeza and creepy transvestite Freeza are the same character?

So yes, yes I do think the dub fans are lesser fans. They're not even really fans. They're fans of some weird, disturbing, misshapen version of the show I'm a fan of.

Hey, I grew up with the same version they love so much. For a while, I cherished it. But then I learned to be a fan of the real show.
