B2 took about a 1 GB of space. B1 was close to 2.
It's party time, Ginyu style!

I didn't say it was out of the question, just unlikely. Let's remember that FUNimation is marketing DBZ to kids, naturally they're not going to let the game get a "Mature" rating. I don't know a lot about the ESRB, but if Funi had the choice of either changing a few names into their dub form (hint hint, Mr. Satan) or being stuck with a M rating for a game they're marketing to kids...well, you get the picture.

Well I'd doubt anything DBZ could get over a Pg-13/Teen/13+/etc rating really. 13 year olds are still kids and that is pretty much where the biggest crowd of DBZ fans (and sadly webmasters) are hehhehe.

But if a DBZ game got a Mature rating, I'd shoot myself in the head

Yeah, that's what I mean. I don't think they'll make Budokai 3 bilingual because then they would have to keep all the original content that the ESRB seem to have deemed "Mature", which Funimation simply won't allow.

What kind of content is there that is deemed "Mature" that you cant see in a Street Fighter, Samurai Showdown, Darkstalkers, Guilty Gear, Tekken, Dead or Alive or a King of Fighters though?

Compared to Mortal Kombat or Killer Instinct (Both M-rated fighters), Dragon Ball Z is NOTHING. It's not that much bloodier or gory as Samurai Showdown, nor is it as dark as Darkstalkers or Guilty Gear. I see Dragon Ball's content about on par with the likes of Guilty Gear, and that game is rated T for Teen, despite having massive blood gushing, instant kills and sprites showing off some cleavage ^^

Besides, I don't think a DBZ game showing blood (with the exception of cinema's),any of Roshi's perverted acts or fatalites would be made anytime soon. We havent had one yet, and I don't think Bandai/Dimps is about to start. And I dont think having the original japansese cast would affect the rating in any way, "Mr.Satan" is no big deal, I've seen plenty of games w/ devil/santanic refrences, and they arent any higher than T!

Check out Disgaea Hour of Darkness if you don't believe me, and that game also happens to be....-drumroll- BI-LINGUAL!

Really, there're other bilingual games? I always figured the 4 .hack games (INFECTION, MUTATION, OUTBREAK, QUARANTINE) were some of the only ones..

It seems kinda typical that an rpg would be bi-lingual, it just seems more natural I think, but I don't know if I can see a bi-lingual fighting game, not counting the slew of fighters on the Neo-Geo, because they let you switch the text between English/Japanese/Spanish whenever you need to on the options screen ^^

If Dimps is worried about an M rating because of Mr. Satan in the sub track for the Japanese audio they could always just put H ercule there instead (leaving the audio the same) as the average little kid wouldn't notice.

Dead or Alive 2 on PS2 was bilingual. So obviously, It can be done. Atari better start thinking up a new excuse.

Sorry to change the subject, but I've heard rumours from another forum that there suppose to be an official trailer out on B3? Does anyone know anything about this?

I haven't heard anything yet on an "official" trailer for Budokai 3, even though one is supposed to be released real soon. I'd lurk around Funimations and Atari's sites for awhile, that's your best chance. The only thing close to a trailer that's been released thus far was a demo being played at E3, captured with a cam corder.

Thanks for the info. I wonder though what is taking so long? Devil May Cry official trailer came out a while ago and it has a release date that's a month later than Budokai 3.

Hmmm your right! Although I havent played DOA2 on the PS2, I only played it on Dreamcast ^^

I dont think the word "Satan" is anywhere near enough to make a game jump up to an "M" rating. I've seen T rated games with words like Shit in them, such as FINAL FANTASY VII! ^^

And like I mentioned above, Disgaea:Hour of Darkness is a pretty risque lil game with its dialogue, like there is the mention of tenticle monsters and errmm...stuff like that, a horse weiner(!), and of course the game itself is pretty damn dark, lots of devilish/heavenly refrences!

So yeh, honestly, I can NEVER see a Dragon Ball Z game ever rated higher than T

You can never be sure, sometimes the ESRB accidently lets things slip through that would warrant a higher rating. For example, one of the hidden bosses in Castelvania Symphony of the Night was a Succubus, and was completly nude (save for a corset, which didn't cover anything).

Castlevania SOTN had quite a few nude monsters, however its not detailed, although the Succubus full body picture is in-fact topless, in her portrait we only get her face...but a quick glance at the intruction booklet will show ya all over her heheheh...

Although that is mostly "artistic nudity" I guess, I dunno if such a thing existed, but I dont think artwork in a manual can warrant the rating of the actual game. Plus there is no sexual content in the game, and usually the ESRB places sex over skin, and oh boy, I can think of TONS of games of skin that are no where near a mature rating! However, I do think a M rating could of worked for Castlevania SOTN, but whatever, it got a T, so yay for me waaaay back then when I was 14 and played it! w00t!

One thing I'd like to see though is an Ao rated game on a console, the only offically Ao rated games out there are all on PC! Comon! What happened to Thrill Kill!?

What happened to Thrill Kill? I hope you're not serious, because that's a LOOONG story. Though I heard that it was actually proving to suck, just before being changed into the Wutang Clan game. And no, I wasn't stupid enough to play that tripe.

It seems many games are given random ratings. I think the first Metal Gear Solid got an M rating, but Max Payne 2, which contained the *gasp* f-bomb, drug abuse, and all sorts of unspeakable things, and yet has the same rating. Metal Gear had... what... a little blood?

There's more than enough capacity in a PS2 disc for dual language. How long can it take to add it on? They're making it, anyway. It's not THAT big a deal, is it? Hell, they fit more dialogue into the PS1 Metal Gear than the script for the first Star Wars, so surely some sounds of Japanese people grunting and screaming can be shoved into this game. Besides that, looking at games like Windwaker and Metal Gear, it seems like there's... just not that much to the Budokai games. No offense Dimps...

...you damn dirty liars.

There was rummor that one was to come out on the 16th but no trailer appeared. However, the same rummor also stated that this trailer was to be the same demo video that's already aired on TV in several locations. (In otherwords, go back several pages in this topic and you'll find it, although it don't look so good.) So, yeah, no real loss there, we've seen it already.

I want some offical word from these guys. We had word on B2 MUCH earlier than this. The offical trailer came out June 30th for B2 if I remember correctly. Dimps is being awfully quiet... I don't like it....

Maybe they are shaking with fear at how awesome the Yu Yu Hakusho Dark Tournment game is going to be compared to the Budokai games :)

I saw the trailer for the game myself a few days ago, and I can already tell its gonna stomp the Budokai games cuz -

1. You can JUMP

2. Uhhh...you can jump...and then do a special attack!

Actually thats all I know for sure, but knowing the universe of Yu Yu Hakusho, I can expect every character to have a unique fighting style.

Jumping isn't that big a deal, and is often times pointless anyway.

All characters in EVERY game have the same fighting style. They punch, kick, and super. :P
