I don't know why anyone's expecting training episodes before February 5th. That's when the arc will start so why would there be any training before it?

Because most people assume that the first episode of this arc is the day of the tournament straight, a silly assumption in my view as they would need time to introduce new Gods, recruit member for their team and of course, training.

I'm not expecting anyone outside of Goku & Vegeta to get real training or get major powerups.

I agree. The first episode of the champa arc wasn't training. It set up the tournament and introduced Champa and Vados.

It's not specifically for the tournament though. It'll help during the tournament for sure, but Goku would be doing that training regardless. People are expecting characters to be shown training specifically with the tournament in mind, which isn't happening yet.

That's Goku who always train. Not the case for most of the chosen fighters. It's even an open question if they will be enough time to train. Champa only gave five days for his tournament.

It could have been erased along with memories of Buu.

That's probably why he was contacted to be the stunt double. Although, at this point Gohan should be a celebrity. He's the great saiyaman and married to Mr. Satan's daughter after all.

Honestly the Goten mini arc I'd like to see is the one that resulted in his EoZ haircut. What finally pushes him over being confused for Gokû to get his own individual style? Is it something funny or frustrating? Or both?

You know, I had a headcanon about the reason as to why Goten changes up his hairstyle into what would become his EoZ look, and personally, I PRAY that it becomes canon.

Shortly before he decides to change his hairstyle, Goten is already well into his phase of dating numerous girls, and one day, he and his most recent girlfriend at the time stop by his house, as Chi-Chi asks Goten to help her with the laundry real quick, and tells him he can't go out to "play" with his girlfriend until they finish.

With Goten being occupied, his girlfriend waits around the house for him. A few minutes later, cue GOKU coming into view, and Goten's girlfriend ends up MISTAKING GOKU FOR GOTEN. She starts flirting with him and even fondling him at one point, all the while thinking she's doing this to Goten. Goku tries to tell her that he's not Goten, but she doesn't let him get a word in edgewise.

Just when Goten and Chi-Chi finish and meet up with the two, the girl looks on in surprised confusion that there are two Gotens in the area, while Goten looks on in shock that his girlfriend was just hitting on his dad, with Chi-Chi being filled with fury that some "hussy" tried to make a move on her Goku. She chases her away, but not before the girl shouts that Goten and his family are weirdos, and that she and Goten "are SO over". Goten looks on in embarrassment, sadness, and anger at everything that transpired. About a day or two later, everyone notices that Goten DRASTICALLY changed his hairstyle, with people like Gohan and Trunks asking why he decided to suddenly do so now, leaving Goten to angrily exclaim that he does NOT wants to talk about it. Not NOW or EVER.

Seriously, this would be great. I hope that when the upcoming arc is done, we get to move on in the timeline, and something like this happens.

That preview sounds a lot like the original BOG plotline, where Beerus was supposed to be responsible for a virus that caused the ruthless behavior of the Saiyans.
Maybe Toei will use Beerus original character design and make Watagash a lizard. Great Saiyaman will play the SSG role, who was supposed to have a cape until Toriyama remade it.

If they didn't pop up everyone would be asking where they are though haha. I really like the manga adding audience members for u6 though. My hopes for this universal tournament is that they'res at least 15 people stronger than Goku and Vegeta. What's the point of having all these universes if there aren't much challengers out there?

No, it's related. During the first episode the villian will escape from Jaco. Also, the actor that's playing Saiyaman hates Gohan for some reason so they'res going to be some conflict there.
