Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Since she's mentioned as helping out with the movie I think odds are decent that Great Saiyaman 2 will be in this.
(Maybe Uncle "Piccoyo" is the one taking care of Pan this episode.)

High, as that's a Toei's thing, so whenever Toei has opportunity, they'll do it. Just like adding Gregory and some other fillers characters.Noah wrote:So what are the odds of we see the return of Great Saiyaman 2?

Nice, but why you talk like it is a bad thing? No need to have problems with filler characters if they don't harm the story.Grimlock wrote:High, as that's a Toei's thing, so whenever Toei has opportunity, they'll do it. Wait, so Great Saiyawoman ISN'T a Toriyama property? I mean, I've always thought of that to be just as 'canon' as Gregory.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Pretty sure Saiyawoman was a dub-only addition.dragonballhero wrote:Wait, so Great Saiyawoman ISN'T a Toriyama property? I mean, I've always thought of that to be just as 'canon' as Gregory.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about how the CONCEPT of Saiyawoman wasn't a Toriyama property, not the name itself.Kanassa wrote:Pretty sure Saiyawoman was a dub-only addition.dragonballhero wrote:Wait, so Great Saiyawoman ISN'T a Toriyama property? It seemed like as people when they refer to filler tend to see as a always bad thingKanassa wrote:How is that talking like it's a bad thing?

That's a big assumption. At most the tone of that post was 'Neutral'Noah wrote:It seemed like as people when they refer to filler tend to see as a always bad thingKanassa wrote:How is that talking like it's a bad thing?

Yeah, exactly. I guess to be more clear, does this mean that the CONCEPT of Great Saiyawoman wasn't invented by Toriyama?Azelf89 wrote:I'm pretty sure he's talking about how the CONCEPT of Saiyawoman wasn't a Toriyama property, not the name itself.Kanassa wrote:Pretty sure Saiyawoman was a dub-only addition.dragonballhero wrote:Wait, so Great Saiyawoman ISN'T a Toriyama property? Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

I loved their comment on Broly. You can tell they don't care for the character.
Disclaimer: I might get into a disagreement with you. Sometimes I might even get feisty about it. I'll never harbor negative feelings because of it though. I hope you feel the same way!Jinzoningen MULE wrote: Maybe I should start making it a point not to comment when I'm not sure of something. Too many people know what they're talking about around here.
I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Broly is okay. My only problem is he's not very useful as an opponent and that the three movies he appeared in are just too similar plot wise for my taste.kinisking wrote:I loved their comment on Broly. You can tell they don't care for the character.

I'm fine with that. He's a boring character imo. I'd rather not see him come back.kinisking wrote:I loved their comment on Broly. You can tell they don't care for the character.

Reading it, that's not at all what it sounds like at all.kinisking wrote:I loved their comment on Broly. You can tell they don't care for the character.
The article goes on and on about how their specific goal is commercializations and merchandising to the point where they have input into the products for commercial purposes. They cite Dragonball fusions as being as being a product that they felt would sell well even though many of the many of the fusions were not present in the original run. Then they go on to state Broly is incredibly popular overseas. If anything it sounds like they are setting up the justification for more Broly content.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Using him again to make money and liking the character aren't the same things. They pretty much said that the only reason he's popular is because he's powerful and musclebound, and that in Japan they care about more than that.TheMikado wrote:Reading it, that's not at all what it sounds like at all.kinisking wrote:I loved their comment on Broly. I really don't get the Broly comment. If Japan wasn't interested in him they wouldn't have focused so much on him in Heroes, which is exclusive to them.

I most likely means that in DB, western popularity leans more towards Broly-like characteristics than in Japan, not necessarily that Broly isn't popular in Japan.Draconic wrote:I really don't get the Broly comment.
