I think there was an argument? Or bullying? Accusations? Something like one of those things. I think people were accusing her of a fan only of VegeBul and not a fan of Dragon Ball Z itself? And of writing characters OOC because people thought she hadn't actually watched or read the series? This is all tangential stuff I only saw a fraction of from the sidelines on Tumblr. There's probably more-informed people who have the details of what exactly went down.

Mm. People need to be more strong willed. The internet can only hurt you if you let it.
It wasn't something I was following that closely, so I don't have as much information as others might. I don't have a way to know exactly what went down, what was said and by how many or who. There's a twitter account here, but it's locked to private: https://twitter.com/Stupidoomdoodle
Whether that's active or not, I don't know. Without enough information, I can't come to a full conclusion.
Without fully knowing what happened, this is pretty much a dead end in terms of what I can conclude about this. ^^;

I follow doom's twitter, which I realize she has now locked/kept private as well. I don't want to copy what she said about the tumblr word for word, that would seem disrespectful. But I'll say this, she mentioned that she didn't leave because of the accusations against her comics or characters of VegBul but simply she didn't like the community and the way they were treating other artists she knew. At least, that was the gist of what I got. Again, I don't want to copy her tweets and put it here, that just feels wrong.
Doom still makes DBZ comics and post them on twitter. She's asked her followers not to repost them anywhere else though. It's a shame because I really love her comics and drawings and folks are missing out.

I still haven’t lived down going, “Who the heck is Tao Pai-pai?” that one time I was talking with Ei’ichiro Oda-kun. But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

Saiga wrote:Well, it's not like it's untrue that the characters she writes are completely OOC. But that doesn't mean she never watched the show or anything.
I've got to say I'm kind of happy, I'm sick of seeing those crappy comics everywhere.
It's fan art. Being OOC is hardly a crime. Especially not one worth being happy over a fellow fan getting harassed and 'closing up shop' so to speak over.
I don't follow her on twitter (mostly cuz I never even use my own twitter) or Tumblr or anything like that, but it'll be a shame not getting to see new art from her now, just because people in the fanbase can be real asshats sometimes.

These days people start throwing the words "filler" and "silce of life" everytime characters aren't punching each other. No matter if something is moving the plot or there's character exposition.
Imagine if DB started these days. It would go like this:
"hey, what's happening in Dragon Ball today?"
"Goku wants Mutenroshi to train him, so he's bringing him some chicks now."
"oh i see, just slice of life filler then. skippable. "
Are we too old to enjoy new Dragon Ball movies/series?

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.

Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
