The only difference in audio is they did some slight noise reduction and did minor EQ work. It sounds a bit less muffled, but it's still just as lossy unfortunately, and it's about all that can be done with the current audio source.

I could be wrong but this song was never used in an opening during the Toonami era. Here are the opening lists as followed:

Rock the Dragon (Ocean Saiyan-FUNi Freeza arcs): http://youtu.be/KaH23Gh8TBs

FUNimation's 1st unnamed Opening (Garlic Jr-Cell Arcs): http://youtu.be/nJr_z_CnDm8 (gotta love Orange Brick "remasters" of old openings

FUNimation's 2nd unnamed Opening (Boo Arc): http://youtu.be/4teO60UOlmk (brace yourself for piss poor quality)

FUNimation's Uncut Broadcast Opening (Saiyan/Namek Arcs): http://youtu.be/WVIkMe4ludM

Yeah that list is all we've seen on Cartoon Network. As I recall, Toonami created their own mash-up intros for all their shows. The intro we get on Orange Bricks/Blurays is from the later movie releases. I love the Uncut intro btw.

You guys are absolutely right. I need to clarify. I didn't mean that the full Orange Bricks intro was the same one used on Toonami. I know that the Toonami airings had shorter intros.

I just suspect that FUNi might have replaced "HEAD-CHA-LA" with the dub opening so that those fans who watched the episodes when they were airing on Cartoon Network (the "mainstream" fans) would get some kind of rock music, which they were probably expecting to hear when the show starts.

Question before going crazy:

Did Piccolo appear as luminescent green in the actual release as he did in that prerelease trailer? Do we know for certain these trailers aren't colour corrected for the sake of the edit?

I'm thinking about getting this set, but I would like some information from anyone who has this set. What is the picture quality like? How does it sound on surround sound? But the main thing that I want to know is picture cropping compared with the OB?

Edit. Ok I would like peoples reviews on this set, I would love to know what other fans think of this before I buy it.

Does anyone know if the English: Dolby TrueHD 5.1 is English with Japanese music or English with funimation music?

Have a read back through the thread, dude. There's been a load of posts with plenty of examples posted recently here.

Here's a sample clip - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POsdoEr ... ata_player

And above you'll find an audio comparison for the Japanese track. Someone also mentioned the English 5.1 track sounds fantastic through their system.

My personal opinion is that these sets are far superior to the Orange Bricks in near enough every way. They are, however, still denoised horrendously and have some very questionable brightness and colour decisions.

Thx but that didn't answer my question. I noticed there's a English 5.1(surround sound) track and a English 2.0 (stereo) track. I think the 5.1 is only with the Japanese music and English dialog. Not sure though.

I didn't actually see your question til after I posted that so I wasn't ignoring it on purpose.

But yes, I believe there are two English tracks. One (Stereo) is the broadcast version aka Faulconer Productions' soundtrack and the other (5.1) contains Kikuchi's score.

As for the sound quality I went over that in a previous post http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... =2900#wrap it's the last post on the page.
If you already own the dragon boxes then there really isn't any reason to buy this set unless your a fan of the american broadcast music. However if you own the orange bricks then this sets is definitely worth the upgrade imo. You get selective cropping and the disappearing line issues have been fixed. This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

The new sets are better for being consistently terrible. Oh, what a world we live in.
