But maybe it's not meant to be intrepreted that radically. I'm not saying it wasn't a logical assumption, but maybe it was always along the lines of "he shouldn't" instead of "he can't". I suppose that's the only explanation we could make up, in case the movie doesn't provide one."I unlocked his powers so that any transformation is out of the game now".

It would go against Old Kaio Shin's wishes if it was any form of "transformation", the body has to remain unchanged to be in what he describes a "pure state".DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Who said that Ultimate became Gohan's base form? The only trait that he retained when he hadn't power up where the fully outlined eyes. His hair & eyes expresion still stayed normal, so it's very possible that the Ultimate is a transformation (kinda), and works as an alternative to the Super Saiyan, not a replacement.Fox666 wrote: If he could, why didn't he used it against Boo?
But I do agree with your idea that he doesn't just have that power everytime as a "daily form", he needs to trigger it (he even asks Old Kaio Shin "how do I unlock that potential?").
But I would rather call it a simple power-up like on Namek, even though for gameplay purposes in video games, the Namek power-up and the Ultimate power-up are considered "transformations" game-wise.
I would say that he has an awesome power, but also access to all of it without having to transform, unlike other Saiyans who reach a limit in their power-up and have to transform to unlock the next step of power-up, then transform again to unlock yet again the next step in powering-up, etc... Gohan has to power up, but his power meter is not broken into "transformation sections" anymore, he can fill it full without transforming.
Now I'm waiting for the movie and their possible explanation. If there's none, it'll be easy to find one that seems logical, many explanations could be okay.

About the two new characters, their relationship reminds me of Bibidi and Buu (or Babidi and fat Majin Buu). Thus, the film continues with the tradition to reuse and adapt story arc concepts for the movies.

Watched the trailer three times and still can't get really excited about it. I must be dead inside.
Animation is really nice although it's too clean. If that makes any sense.

Why Goku is on King Kai's planet ?
Didn't the planet blow up during the Cell Saga ?

Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People

The Kamehameha toward the end seems a bit underwhelming to me...
Other than that and maybe Super Saiyan Gohan, everything looks pretty good. A lot of stuff seems to violate the common sense of Z but probably not intentionally.

It is too earlier to tell but from that trailer I get more of a Nappa and Vegeta vibe.JeffJarrett wrote:About the two new characters, their relationship reminds me of Bibidi and Buu (or Babidi and fat Majin Buu). James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Okay so I watched this about 10 minutes ago... and I've rewatched it a few times since. This got me VERY excited, and I think I'm just about ready to post my thoughts ha! Okay, the whole Goku fighting in Space thing... that looks GREAT! Even though we only seen it for a second, the earth in the backdrop looked amazing and Goku looked like he'd been through quite a fight!
That and the shot of Goku as a Super Saiyan around 0:40 got me super hyped. The animation looks superb in my opinion, however the only thing that stands out to me is the way the Birusu is animated in those clips looks kind of strange to me. I don't have much problem with the way he looks. He's kind of strange looking and wacky - exactly what I expect from a DBZ villain! If a DBZ villain looked normal... I'd be concerned! However, the animation for him seemed a little off.
Everything else looked so cool though, and I am so hyped for this!

Don't want to get into a discussion very much because I hate negative people on the Internet who seem to thrive by spouting negativity's when everyone is at their happiest.... but here goes.Titan wrote:Why?hui43210 wrote:Hate to say it, but the more I see of this, the more I'm reminded why I'm not really into Dragonball anymore.
I simply do not like these types of shonen jump style anime anymore, hell, dragonball and St. Seyia are the only ones I ever liked. . Basically, this is how I see the movie going. Goku fights Bills, loses, everyone else gets the shot, loses, Goku powers up, wins, the end.
In conclusion, Dragonball was basically over for me when I saw Cowboy Bebop and fully understood what Anime can be. But, I still have the utmost respect for the series for bringing in me and possibly millions of others into this wonderful world of anime, and I fully appreciate the evolution I have taken over the years. I am very happy for all the people here are excited, its just that I'm still too excited about Evangelion 3.0 to care right now, but I'll still probably see Dragonball come March or whenever I can.

Yeah, time to save up for Japanese Blu-ray import. Stat.
I mean, holy crap. Super Saiyan 3 Gokuu fighting Birusu on Kaiou's home world (which seems to have been re-create)? Epic.

He also was going to burn to death Goku and his friends, for stealng his wish, that`s pretty evil, wanting someone to die slowly and painfully.JeffJarrett wrote: Have you ever followed Pilaf's adventures in DB. He's not an evil character, and it was established in his very first appearance in the series. He wanted to torture Bulma and to do so he blew her a kiss. Even his henchmen were disgusted, while Bulma was confused and couldn't believe how childish Pilaf was. That guy sleeps with a teddy bear, and he never killed anyone in the series (contrary to Goku, Vegeta, and Abo & Kado).
Also, we already have one God of destruction, DBZ episode 160 title "Battle Power Infinity!! Birth of the God of Destruction Named Cell"

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I feel like the interesting stuff is being shown in the tiniest clips, I gotta keep pausing the video to catch the parts that interest me.
Thoughts:
-Ox King's wearing a tie with a tank-top. XD
-Pilaf is wearing the same outfit as his figure, his coloring is correct in the movie though (I do kind of hope to see the Piccolo-Pilaf body-swap now; I can't imagine WCF goofing up so heavily on the figure; all their One Piece figures are so spot-on, plus merchandising is important to Shueisha.)
-Nice cape, Mark. XD
-I'm almost-certain that's Toriyama's World Tree now.
-Birusu just turned a speckled egg into...a non-speckled egg? Or did he turn it to stone (that'd be more interesting).
-Goku!! X3
-So Goku does visit Kaio-sama's place in this (and that's probably where he tells him not to get involved).
-Birusu and Uisu's "Really?" reaction to Goku happily introducing himself. XD
-Aw man, I can hear Table in Uisu's voice. XD
-Sands running through Birusu's hands; metaphor for 'your time is nearly up' or something?
-"Hakaioshin". No problems with Birusu's deep voice; most of Cowboy Bebop I've seen I've seen in English, so I probably won't be picturing Spike there much.
-I like 18's new outfit; the purple/black looks good on her.
-Oh Gotenks, of course you'd be there. :3
-I don't care whether Gohan can or can not go ssj, doesn't matter to me.
-Vegeta! X3 And he's in his Cell arc outfit.
-Hey there ssj3 Goku. Pretty cool camera-angle there.
-And the intro page's background
-Lol, it looks like Birusu's getting ready to thrown a sun at him, but it's probably just a different color ki ball.
-Explanation for why Goku is in space and now exploding by being there: maybe he's still in the atmosphere, but near the very top? Also, this sort of thing has happened with Vegeta and Bardock already in the series, so there's precedent.
-Uisu in the shadows makes me think that's when he first appears.
-Is that Capsule Corp on that floating island? Or is that the lookout from a different angle? I can't tell.
-And we finish over Earth with Goku's gi all beat up; *hopes for character development and/or special movie-only magical attack*.
So! I feel like they're focusing on showing the action/preparing-to-fight parts in this trailer, which isn't bad, but I kind of want to see the Birusu show off his special powers more, which I feel is in the movie, but just not in this trailer.
Thank you again for the link!

Why is Gohan SSJ? Why are they ignoring his Ultimate potential. They better have an explanation or I'll be pissed off. Is this a cheap way of nerfing Gohan.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

I just seen the new trailer and I must say Wow! this is going to be a fun ride
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128
