They should clean out all posts on the review section as most of them don't even own the actual BD Season.

Amazon might have that because they're getting more stock? Maybe.
I agree. Hardly any are even 'reviews' of the product, they're just people bitching about the crop. Some people may not even mind the crop, myself included. The purpose of a review is to evaluate all features and aspects of a product, not to claim that one aspect ruins the whole product.

You're right, most of the reviews are by people that don't even own the set. Most of those post were done in October. But most of the new ones by people that do own the set are saying they love it. They are saying the cropping is done much better than the OB, and most of the good reviews are done by long time DBZ fans. This reminds me of people giving the Star Wars Blu-Ray sets bad reviews before it was released.

If I were to give Dragon Ball Z: Rock the Dragon Edition 2/5 stars I'd guess that would make some fans mad but it has nothing to do with the actual dub or voice cast, it's the packaging that's horrible for the DVDs.

There's more to it than just making assumptions how bad it is without owning.

So the packaging is that bad for Rock the Dragon?

Hmm wonder what could be wrong with them? Perhaps they're just out of stock. I'm so relieved that mine got shipped yesterday.
Also, has this affected you shipment dbboxkaifan?

Do you know about the Futurama complete boxset which also has a shitty packaging? This is kinda like that.

Discs in a packaging like this get scratched very easily even if you're extra careful taking them because whoever inserted already risked the discs getting damaged, at least 2-3 DVDs had light marks (or may I say, scratches) but thankfully I had plastic CD cases hanging around so I used them.

Ideal packaging for something like this?

An 8pc DVD Case (1-53 eps) such as this:

Plus, 1pc DVD case for the films (1-3).

Who cares? You should rate/review based on what the product actually is.

And with that being said, are you honestly trying to equate packaging with faults of the actual item? Yeah, poor packaging/boxes suck, but at a certain point, the product you actually bought within is all that matters. It's completely not the same.

Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
Oh this is pathetic! People are pathetic! Amazon has better stuff to do with their time than listen to people crying over a product that they're not gonna buy.
This is kinda their fault anyways for allowing people to comment their opinions about a product without them purchasing it, etc. You didn't see people crying over the Dragon-boxes saying, ''Wahhhhhhhhh Funimation ruins YET ANOTHER RELEASE!! Don't buy this release!! It doesn't have the US broadcast score!!''

Edit - I love the scalpers that see a chance to profit by raising the price up for a new release to $28 and rising and someone put theirs up for $30 LOL. Trying make people scared that they're not gonna be able to get this release. Hopefully Amazon gets this sorted out.

Sorry but I gotta edit again - I almost feel like the Youtube community is the fault of this. I wouldn't put it past them at all! I don't believe that a member of Kanzenshuu would sink this low.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I don't think Amazon would pull a product solely because of negative reviews. There has to be more to it than that, like numerous complaints of physical damage or technical problems.

Has anyone here ordered it from Amazon? It's possible there actually are packaging/shipping errors on their part, or that their stock included some defective discs or something.

It was initially listed as '4:3' on Amazon, wasn't it?
Aren't there a fair share of reviews complaining about that false info?
It's certainly changed to 16:9 now and I think it has been for a while so perhaps this is just a delayed reaction to something that's already fixed.

Unlikely but a possibility all the same.

I tend to get crap packaging when I order from Amazon.com. Some of my Dragon Boxes were damaged (superficially) as a result.

I think this issue with the BD Seasons is basically down to people (most of them from around here, I expect) reporting that there is something "wrong" with the product because it's cropped.

I don't know how I feel about this stuff, because while I do want as many people as possible exposed to the knowledge that the Levels only failed because they were horribly marketed, that there is no true-to-the-original release still in production and so on, I also want Dragon Ball products to get good reviews, make best-sellers lists, and basically attract new fans. I also don't want the second DBZ release in a row to get cancelled; that sends a bad - and false - message to FUNimation.

Unfortunately my Dboxes 2,5 and 7 arrived with damaged slipcases. 7 is the worst, it has a tear all the way across the spine, but the Dbox 2 is what bothers me the most.

I assume it is just a delayed reaction to people saying that the product was listed as 4:3 but the actual product they received was 16:9.

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

While the Dragon Boxes Z were being released there was an Amazon user named "iumak" who kept giving them 1-star reviews because it didn't feature the US Music. He wasn't the only one, though.

Here's his "review" of Dragon Box Z Vol. 2:
Until Funimation confirms that this Dragonbox set and future releases include the superior American musical score, I would encourage you not to buy anymore Dragonbox sets.

I will edit this review when Funimaton says that this set has the dub score. (Which the last set didn't include because there wasn't one produced for those episodes)
Until then.... it gets a 0/10 from me.
One more m'kay?
Too early for that cover art. No dub music and the japanese music is sooooo bland and makes the show boring. I will however get these dragoboxes just to have every dragonball dvd release ever. But for all you none smart people who think that dub will hurt the video quality are not, well, smart. It will hurt the quality when it is 4 or 5 tracks. Its not on there, because Funimaton is treating there anime now untouched. It's not because of the video quality they are not putting it on there. I can't believe how many stupid Dragon Ball Z fans are out there.

Note: I'am fully aware that I'am going to get ambushed with negative comments. I just want you to know, I don't read them. So putting those comments are just as pointless as my review.

FUNimation's packaging of Dragon Box Z was pretty crappy and sometimes very similar to the mediocrity you'd get from buying a bootleg release.

I think my Dragon Box Z Vol. 6 has some broken plastic holder on the top left but I never bothered to buy a replacement, watched it a couple of times and then stored it on the shelf.
