Re: Fan Works Explosion
I like the 1st and 3rd pictures
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I love your first form! Brown goes well with it!

Yeah, the first one is awesome. The concept overall is pretty cool, though I think the final form might look better red, like a Red wasp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polistes_annularis).
Or, god forbid, the Oriental Hornet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polistes_annularis).

Re: Fan Works Explosion
The second of the three new concepts I had fun with yesterday.
This one is about the Saiyan armor. I thought "the Saiyans are originally a violent people you should despise. How about arranging their suits so that it would fit with that despise feeling?"
I recolored the suits following these ideas:
- The main part of the suit represents how Saiyans are emotionless, really not expressing feelings. This would translate to dull black/grey colors for most of their clothes.
- The red armor, meant for battle, would represent their thirst of blood and complete the bad feeling of threat they want to impose on people seeing them.
Even Goku and Gohan seem more menacing with that suit.
I really don't like how it looks, which is in line with how one should feel about the original Saiyan people who designed the suits. No wonder Goku and Gohan don't feel like keeping that suit longer than necessary!
It also comes with a change in the Super Saiyan eyes: what would it be like if the energy turned them golden, much like their hair?
And I added that extra dot on their eyes from Super Saiyan 3 and Burst Limit, as it gives them a wilder, agressive and dangerous side going with the state of Super Saiyan.

Here you go, inspired by the dark red of the Oriental Hornet:CaBrPi wrote:The concept overall is pretty cool, though I think the final form might look better red, like a Red wasp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polistes_annularis).

Re: Fan Works Explosion
I just realized I linked to the same page twice.
This is the Oriental hornet. That Cell is really awesome, though.
I like the armor, but I really like Gohan's eyes there.

Re: Fan Works Explosion
Don't worry, I saw that and went looking for the Oriental Hornet on Wikipedia (the other article has pictures where there are plenty of red wasps, but they're small, so I chose the Oriental Hornet which has a good close-up picture).CaBrPi wrote:I just realized I linked to the same page twice.

When reading your post, I first thought that just turning the yellow Cell into red would be enough, but when comparing with the picture, I figured out I had to darken the red to a certain extent to more or less match that insect.

Re: Fan Works Explosion
The last of the three concepts I had fun with on Saturday.
What if Freezer had an appearance that matched the icy nature of his name (and his clan's name)?
The first appearance has the red armor. This is the form he uses when he is self-contained and how he usually shows up for other people. The red brings a little sense of heat in this formal appearance, and seems royal since the guy's a prince. Note that this higher-quality version of the armor has distinctive colors, such as having Freezer's main blue color instead of dull grey, he likely had a specific armor made especially for him.
When it's time to fight and the armor is out of the picture, any sense of heat is gone and he becomes purely freezing colors. Note that even his wrists and ankles change colors: it is unknown whether his body gets some sort of preliminary preparation for his second form by changing his natural red color, or whether the initial red color is actually not his natural color but just an effect he willingly applies to match the armor. However, the second option is more likely, Freezer is from a royal line and likes to be presentable whether it's in the way he looks or the way he speaks.
The second form is just a logical continuation of the first.
The third form has a different skin, reminiscent of some form of alien toad or gecko, which is part of his more monstrous appearance. Any hint of purple disappears it all just remains more or less blue.
The last appearance has icy turquoise eyes, distinct from his main color while still keeping the same feel. This piercing, distinct and freezing look in his eyes makes it a bit disturbing to look at him straight in the eyes.

Re: Fan Works Explosion
New concept for Goku.
Adding the new Super Saiyan eyes I already tried on Gohan and removing the blue part of his suit: his suit is to be orange because of buddhist monks, but there's no word about the blue (though I suspect it's supposed to represent the sky and thus be a reference to his name). I chose to keep the important reference about buddhist monks and adapt the rest of the clothing to not challenge that main color, meaning having no color at all.
This change is kinda the same that Naruto went through: little blue parts of Goku and Naruto disappeared and became colorless, which also increased the distinction with their opposite (with Sasuke and Vegeta's blue). Pure-hearted heroes made of warm orange only, bad guys or anti-heroes (depending on the moment in the story) made of cold blue only.

@ rereboy: Amazing, just looking at Vegeta posing with the mask like this with "V for Vegeta" written makes me smile in front of my screen!

I'm not a fan of the golden irises, it blends in too much with the hair and skin.

That's a valid point.Rocketman wrote:I'm not a fan of the golden irises, it blends in too much with the hair and skin.
The thing is that I wanted to avoid having a color that is actually a natural eye color (blue, green, brown).
Going red could make them kinda evilish more than just "wild beast".
Other colors could seem weird to reveal their wild, savage side through the look in their eyes (purple?! pink?! white?!).
So gold is the only color I found to look quite cool, especially since it's in line with the other golden elements and gives that wild side.
But you're right, one downside to it is that it does make the distinction between eyes and hair more blurry.
What do you call his "hypothetical fifth form"?Hades wrote:@Cold_Skin

His 100% form? His mecha form? Or his - all the more "hypothetical" since they don't officially exist - fifth and sixth forms on Deviantart?
Re: Fan Works Explosion
You could always make his eyes a more greenish yellow. I think that would show some of his savage side, isn't a natural eye color, and wouldn't really blend as much with the hair and eye brows.Cold Skin wrote:That's a valid point.Rocketman wrote:I'm not a fan of the golden irises, it blends in too much with the hair and skin.

Three new pages of Chichi's Peril up on tumblr.

Re: Fan Works Explosion
That reveal panel was brilliantly drawn, ma'am. You captured the motion very well.
Re: Fan Works Explosion
Made a few alternative concepts for those unhappy with the golden Super Saiyan eyes - which remain my favorites, the fact that it keeps in line with the hair and eyebrowns doesn't bother me (in their regular form, Saiyan already have black eyes that blend with their black eyebrows and black hair).
- The green-eyed Super Saiyan, much like the original but with the extra dot in the eyes and a possibly darker green, because even when purely green, it can easily be confused as yellow from afar if you don't darken it. Let alone when we try Zephyr's greenish yellow tactic (which seemed a good idea, but it definately looked like the same yellow with that size of image).
- The red-eyes Super Saiyan. I first thought it might look to evilish, but one might actually interpret it as the same primal rage than for the Oozaru, so the distinctive red eyes of the Oozaru transformation would transpire as a representation of the Saiyans' wild instinct.
- The Oozaru-based Super Saiyan, which keeps in line with the concept of the same primal instinct resurfacing with the red eyes, complete with brown hair like the Oozaru's fur. As if the Super Saiyan was some sort of "human Oozaru" state.

@ Hades: I think I have the picture, I can work on that. But it might be a little off since that form wasn't part of how I first thought about the concept, so it'll probably end up being off... But I'll see what I can do.
