The quality varies, party due to poor source material (DAT JPEG COMPRESSION) and the actual art itself. I personally don't think they look that good, but I like the idea. You might want to tone down the bloom first things first.
Just tried to find some way to change the style, but I guess it does have some of Toriyama's newer shading style in some parts.
Tweaking with various GIMP options, I happened to find this one combinaison of add-on filters.
I tried many other filters' combo, but there was no acceptable result...
Changing the whole style is all I can do to give a sense of novelty since there's no real way to easily "remaster" a picture (although I guess the impossible-to-find "4x Sai" can indeed transform anything into high resolution by properly dividing the pixels...)
Wish we had a way to automatically reproduce the quality of the "HD renders through linearts" that the Character Project had, but we're not there yet, there's still no automated program to amazingly improve the quality of a picture, we still need actual people for an astonishing result...
So in the meantime, I guess we can always use tweaks to change the style and give alternative interpretations, but I wish we could do more, of course.
