Episode Director Nakamura Ryouta probably felt it was best for the middle portion of the battle to handled by Shida since it would have had the highest amount of thrill to it. The problem is less that Shida did that part of the episode and more that there wasn't any time for the rest to be good.ParkerAL wrote:You know, Shida's contribution to the last episode was an amazing triumph of animation, but if I absolutely had to come up with a critique for it, it would be that nothing much of real significance happened during its run.
What I'm saying is it more or less begins and ends on the same note: with Goku and Trunks struggling against their opponents. Goku Black using instant transmission was a great strategic move, but I wouldn't really call it a turning point in the episode. Basically, it feels like the best animation went towards the fight's build-up, leaving the climaxes to land with relative thuds. (Because how else can you describe them compared to Shida's godly cut)?
I wish we could see how Shida would have animated Trunks running his sword through Zamasu's stomach, Vegeta staging his last-ditch rescue, or another more dramatic moment. That way the writer and animator would have been working together to leave the strongest possible impression during these vital scenes.
But again, I'm not about to make a big deal out of this. I wouldn't even call it an actual flaw with the episode - just an observation that came to mind. Shida could animate Goku scratching his chin and I would eat it up happily.

I'm excited to see what she can do alone after working with great supervisors.
If there is only one supervisor per episode it means there won't be a lot of different styles, right? And that there was a good schedule behind those episodes.

Does anybody have any reference with Kinoshita Yui's style in DB?
EDIT: Is she the one with the scrunched up eyes and weird mouths?

She is usually paired with Kusunoki Tomoko. Her episode would probably be a studio wanpack heavy episode. I won't be surprised to see a lot of animators from studio wanpack. I really dont know her style, but #17 second half is the closest we have seen her work by herself.

That shot of Goku looks really good. I wonder who will be working with Yashima in tonight's episode.

I'm guessing that shot is just something corrected by a 2nd Key animator or the chief animation supervisor.neolux wrote:That shot of Goku looks really good. I wonder who will be working with Yashima in tonight's episode.

There was only one key animator(Yashima) and one 2nd key animator(Yokoyama Miyuk) entire episode. It was all yashima

Just Yashima and a single 2nd key animator? Nice. Outside of a few rough Yashima shots the episode was pretty polished art wise too. Bless the improving schedule!Sodhi wrote:There was only one key animator(Yashima) and one 2nd key animator(Yokoyama Miyuk) entire episode. It was all yashima
First break in episodes for Higashide too, I wonder if he'll be right back to working on every episode with 59 or if he'll have a bit more time per episode.

Wow, it was a really good episode coming from Yashima, it seems there were a lot of shots that were corrected and there aren't a lot of scenes with Yashima's style, glad it was on model most of the time.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #57]
Looks like tsuji Miyako did do corrections and so did Yokoyama Miyuki . However it was an solo episode.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #57]
I'm away right now so I can't do my usual thing until tomorrow.
I do have a couple of things to note though:
Despite being a solo episode by Yashima, an overwhelming number of cuts were entirely redrawn by Tsuji.
With the really on-model parts resembling neither Yashima or Tsuji, I think it's safe to say that that was Yokoyama's input.
Pretty nice episode, all things considered. They're really being smart with this arc.

Is it just more or does the NEP look surprisingly animated for Ishikawa? Also his art looks really good, I can't wait to get a full version of the pan shot that happens while the episode title shows up where Kaioshin, Goku, Beerus and Whis are all standing side by side, it looks great!
Can anyone tell from the NEP if he has another supervisor working with him?

The schedule should be good if this episode was animated by only one person and also a lot of corrections were done.

That shot reminds me of that fanart where SSJG Goku was standing next to Bills.

I agree, that shot looks really good! Overall the episode looked consistent. I didn't see much of anything that was off.ArchedThunder wrote:I can't wait to get a full version of the pan shot that happens while the episode title shows up where Kaioshin, Goku, Beerus and Whis are all standing side by side, it looks great!

I think I know what you're talking about, but that isn't actually fan art (or at least the original isn't), it's from Battle of Gods when Goku and Beerus are staring each other down, someone just placed them side by side.Alee9977 wrote: That shot reminds me of that fanart where SSJG Goku was standing next to Bills.
