The GoDs look for the most part awful as well. The elephant looks alright, and the fox doesn't look too bad, but a clown and a robot? Really?
I wasn't hoping much to begin with, but I was interested to watch it, now I'm just baffled.

What would you have liked instead?

I guarantee you that this is not Toriyama's doing. He doesn't expand on idea that he didn't create, Bardock literally being the only substantial exception. Also, he's on record as going out of his way to not please fans back in the day, I doubt he's pulled a 180 on that principle.

He's open to suggestions from the staff, someone could have asked him to do something with Broly and he decided to do his own thing with it.

The Broly influence is obvious. But lets not fly off the handle. We know nothing about this character other than she shares features with Broly when Transformed. We don't know if this form is LSSJ. I was enjoying the reactions but I really don't want a trunk load of salt for the next week over so little info. I say wait till we get details, THEN freak out.

It's literally Broly with a little more chest. The name of the transformation is irrelevant.

Yeah, I said the influence was obvious. But this isn't Broly as far as we know. It just look like him and people are acting like it is straight up Broly from the movies. As I said ,very little info from a 12 second clip and even less time of the character. I just don't see the point of freaking out right now.

Some parts are from the opening and some from an episode, the part where all the gods are shown doesn't look like an opening at all neither does the final part with Goku smiling.

Technically, Super Saiyan Kaioken was a Toei idea that he approved of.

Even then, Toriyama does fan service to a point. Like we got Future Trunks back for one arc, but despite popular demand Trunks didn't stay nor did he used anything from Online or Xenoverse. The same with 'evil Goku' being just a more expanded version of what Ginyu did back in the Namek Saga or how he trolled Vegetto's fans with the one-hour time limit.

I just realized the significance of the Broly look alike. If they see her and acknowledge they fought their own LSSJ in their universe then it would make him canon like Tarble is...!!!!! Broly and movie 8 could become canon soon.

I cannot believe that the mere concept of LSSJ migrated into Super. For what it's worth, one thing I can salvage from this disaster is that we have first ever female SSJ. That is landmark moment, no matter what way you slice it. It took us over twenty years to get there, but we got there. It's an almighty shame regarding the circumstances of that moment. I just can't help but think of Broly every time I see that form. And it instantly reminds me of how much I'm apathetic towards the character. I pray this will grow on me but I don't think it will.

We don't know the difference. Thats the thing. We know nothing and people are acting like this is Broly and like they know the character from 2 seconds of a clip. I just think it's silly to hate a character we know nothing about just because she resembles Broly. She could be exactly the same and the freak outs are justified. She could be so radically different that she might be a fan favorite. Nobody has a clue, yet the first instinct is to freak out.

We still barely know anything about the arc yet. This tournament involves every universe, and we will probably get to see over 100 new characters. This is the perfect chance for them to experiment with different designs and ideas. So I wouldn't write anything off just yet.

Lord Beerus, I would think you of all people would be more opened minded since you were dead set against 'evil Goku' and now you adore Goku Black.

I am not happy about Broly either, mostly because of Broly fans then the actual character, but I am willing to see how this plays out before passing judgment. I was dead set against Vegetto and Toriyama made it worked for me by giving him a time limit, stopping the endless 'why don't they just fuse', making Vegetto struggled instead of it being a mud stomped, and giving the 'kill' to someone else.
