I've used my R2's quite a bit for some amvs I've done, but now any future DBZ related videos will ONLY use the new DBox sets.SSj Kaboom wrote:As well as we AMV-makers. Good to know, I was having a hard time figuring out the nature of the DBox's footage.Krycek7o2 wrote:Since the video won't be messed with, Progressive Video is a definite for this set. This will appease those who watch DVD's on Laptops Computers, lower end DVD players hooked to an HDTV.

I feel sorry for everyone who was screwed over, but I'm kind of on a high right now because I've never committed to any VHS or DVD release. I've gotten a thing here or there just because I found it really cheap and wanted to see those episodes. But, in general, I've essentially skipped every release up through now and it's finally paying off!Gozar wrote:Wow, I don't feel screwed over at alllll. Ya know, after buying 9 sets of "The way it was meant to be scene". I knew it, I fucking knew it. I just knew that after the Season Sets came out, all of us people who bought it would get screwed over some how. -_-

I'll make my final decision after comic con next week. I gotta get rid of them because when November rolls around, they'll be nothing but paperweights.RoarkVegeta wrote:Castor Troy wrote:I was actually thinking of selling my 16 singles for less or around that.RoarkVegeta wrote: Kendamu has DB 1 - 9 for $100.

This was probably a waste of my time, but I went for it.
I swear to god if I get that automated message...email to FUNi wrote:Hello, I am a fan of the wildly popular Dragon Ball series, and have recently heard the exciting news to bring the Dragon Boxes to North America. While most hardcore Dragon Ball fans are surely celebrating, this has lead me to ponder a few things. FUNimation has recently announced original Dragon Ball Season Sets, along with Dragon Ball GT sets that were released a few months back. With the the news of the DBOX's release, one can't help but wonder if there are plans to release similar versions of the original 153-episode series and DBGT. I hope you can understand the possible confusion and frustration of a fan to purchase a release, when an all-around better version of the same product is on its way. Any sort of answer would be greatly appreciated.

I skipped nigh every single release since 1996 (other than the Pioneer DVDs of the first three movies); all the VHS singles, all the DVD singles, the Ultimate Uncuts... ONLY caving for the Bricks just on account of how long it'd been that I lived off of old fansubs and IC, and figuring that that was the best we'd ever get stateside...
...and then POW! This.
I caved for a subpar but affordable product after a good decade of waiting and holding out, only to find that I only had to wait three more stinking years for an utterly flawless release.
I kinda prided myself on how patient I'd been with this series, not blowing money randomly on all the various singles and whatnot. I may have egg on my face now, but damned if it ain't mighty delicious egg considering what we're getting here.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Wow
When I read the update on the homepage my first thought was "Is it April Fools today?".
This is so amazing. I'm glad I haven't gotten any of the Z season sets yet...Man, my excitement about this is on a par with when I found out about the new special.
So, do we know for a fact that the Funi dub will be on the Dragon Box?

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I can imagine a lot of Japanese, and worldwide in general importing for these sets. It really must have been heck for Funimation to get the sets exactly the way they are, for so cheap a price, expecting that to happen.
I've made up my mind on buying these. It may not be "as they come out", but I'll be buying these sets. The season set bricks will be my battle scars, proudly in my DVD collection forever to stay, right next to my DragonBox releases.
Now, Kai? Oof...I hope for my ability to buy things that doesn't come out any time soon.

I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.
