MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 3/16/26!)

Plus it gave them all one final moment of glory together in the form of fighting off the invading remnants of Freeza's army.

I don't see anything about Yamcha there.
On another note, since Gaffer Tape is talking about arc similarities between Daimao and Tao, I want to mention Buu is similar to Piccolo. They are both evil incarnates who were sealed away, released and beat the hero up, and then the hero barely escapes and finds a way to get their potential unlocked. Only difference is that Kid Goku won, where as Mystic Gohan lost.
The Buu Arc used to be my favourite, but upon a rewatch I found myself entirely bored after Majin Vegeta's fight with Majin Buu.

I don't see why that wouldn't imply Yamcha.

Probably the "heroes" part excludes him.
But in all seriousness, yeah DBO just neglects Yamcha and Oob completely. How the hell could they put Chaozu ahead of either of them?

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

...Uhh...*raises hand* Hate to break it to you, but I do, and I'm at least somewhat sure I'm not alone. He has a lot of potential as a character that we've never gotten to see played with properly yet.TheGmGoken wrote:No one likes OobSaiga wrote:Probably the "heroes" part excludes him.

Heh, I don't think he meant it like that. I think he's referring to that how Uub has barely gotten any focus once the manga ends (except a brief role in GT's Bebi Arc), that it seems like the writers don't really care about him. Thus, he's another wasted character like Chaozu and Videl. Sigh...
Hey Gaffer Tape, don't know if I mentioned this to you, but Furuya considers Yamcha to be his third most important role. Wow, even ahead of Tuxedo Kamen and Saint Seiya!

Oob joins the same club as Piccolo, Gohan, Goten, and Trunks. All 5 learned a valuable lesson. They're not Goku, so shut up and talk about how awesome Goku is. Oob especially turns out like Piccolo and Gohan. They get a big power up that amounts to nothing in the end.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

So was reading a group VA interview with the cast and Furuya mentions he asked the director to make Yamcha cool...

...and thus the legend of filler Yamcha was born!
I really wish I knew what episode it was, I'd guess it was around Vegetto.
Here is the interview by the way.
Furuya: Just participating has significance. (laughs) Yamcha was that way, too. And on top of that, in the end, he says, “I’m not going,” and stops participating. (laughs) Once upon a time, there was a cool Yamcha, training together with Kuririn, but….
Tanaka: It was only training. (laughs)
Furuya: Yes, he didn’t have any real battles. To be honest, I asked the director, Yamauchi-san, “Make Yamcha cool”. Maybe he threw that in there for me. (laughs)

Dragon Ball Z Episode #278. This was the episode before Super Saiyan Son Gokuu did battle with the Pure Majin Buu.
Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 5/8/14!
It's actually #270, during the Vegetto fight, as I presumed. I've uploaded and posted a link of it onto MistareFusion's Facebook Page.
Hey, Gaffer Tape, I got something for when you review the Cell Arc. Piccolo is surprised Cell can use the Solar Flare because it is Tenshinhan's move, but he personally saw Goku use the move at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai. Either it is a Toriyama brain fart, Piccolo being dumb, or both.

Yeah, but then again, Kuririn later does say that very thing, so it is at least taken care of. Honestly, I always thought it was a bit silly that everyone freaked the fuck out that he could use the Kamehameha when so many early moments in the series were laypeople freaking out that each one of our main characters was pulling out the Kamehameha.

Well he seemed surprise that someone can mimic it, despite having personally witness Goku mimic it at the tournament. Had he not seen Goku mimic it, I could buy into the idea that Piccolo was surprised that Cell knew it.
I gotta admit, that whole scene is something I didn't like. I never understood how Cell knew he could do Kamehameha, but didn't know he could regenerate. Not too mention there was so much exposition it gave away the mysteriousness of the character. I still think it'd have been more interested if Cell showed up as a good guy created and sent to the Present by Future Bulma to help the Z-Fighters fight the Androids, but the plot twist is that he was actually bad and using Piccolo as a way to find a chance to absorb the Androids.

That fan idea is horrible. Not only would it be predictable but it'll be a crappy storyline. Wouldn't Trunks know? Cell being after the Cyborgs seems more fun since its bad guy vs anti villains(right word?).
Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 5/8/14!
I guess so.
On a flip note, Gaffer Tape, if Chaozu had beaten Tao and made it to the tournament. How do you think Tenshinhan would have ordered the match-ups? I think Goku would fight Piccolo straight away, Ten and Chaozu would rematch Yamcha and Krillin, while Chichi takes on the nerdy guy.

Ten fight Goku. As he wants Goku fresh.
Chi chi vs Yamcha(cuz Yamcha love her)
Krillin vs Chazou
Piccolo vs hero.

Yamcha wins (he has beaten Chichi before, so the jobber rule doesn't count)
Krillin wins (Chaozu cant count)
Piccolo wins (as what happened in the show)
Goku beats Yamcha (duh)

Heck, I would have enjoyed that more than the actual 23rd Budokai. I found the early stuff boring, like the Tao comeback.

Plot> jobber rules.
We need Chi chi to win for Goku vs Milk (Latino dub reference). My choice would be
Goku vs Yamcha
Krillin vs Chi Chi
Ten vs Piccolo
Chazou vs Hero.
I
Hate
Chazou

What is it about Chaozu you do not like? Just curious.
