Just two more episodes until this is over. *sigh* I'm gonna miss reporting the curses. Oh well, I'll just buy all the DVDs, if just for the Japanese version.

Have to agree with you on that Julian. I thought it was better when he just sounded like a big dumb guy without the European accent. I was starting to expect him with this voice doing that "You do well" line from the Budokai games.SaiyaJedi wrote:Eh, I was more impressed by the mention of Gohan's broken neck, which wasn't made to look quite so bad in the previous version. Recoome's voice bothers me, though -- I was a fan of the one he had in the Ocean dub.Son_Gokou wrote:Heh, I was hoping for a curse, and we got one! A "Damn," from Vegeta, near the very end of this episode. Ah, and here's Goku!

I will die out. There will be nothing left to talk about. I still don't understand how this thread turned into this when it was talking about how grainy an episode was.Slickmasterfunk wrote:Since Monday is the last episode, I wonder if this thread that I made months ago will die out.
Hey Vegetto EX, is there a way to tell if this has been the longest most active thread ever on the entire board? I think I'd feel honored if it was.

I never laughed so hard to a Dragon Ball Z episode. Not since first seeing the driver's license episode years before FUNi ever dubbed it. Why? Because Recoome's lines were delivered so horribly. Maybe it's me, but he sounded like he was completely drunk every time he spoke. o_O Then of course, Sabat bungles up again by having Jeice sound EXACTLY like Vegeta but with an Aussie accent the very moment he says his first lines in the episode. While he's a good man, he definately doesn't know how to make his characters sound different. I'd say he's better off sticking to voicing Alex Louis Armstrong from Fullmetal Alchemist, considering that's the one time his voice actually fits.
Really didn't like how the episode jumped around in quality of animation. Maybe it's me, but it seems like Toei had all three animation groups work on this one episode while having the lousiest work most of it. Makes one wonder why they even bothered having hired them since their work looks nothing like what Toriyama's work looks like.

Ya, that's one of my all time favorite lines. XDSuper Sonic wrote:Nice ep. I'm glad they kept the cocky Goku line of, "I saw an opening that screamed, 'Attack!' So I did!" That made me and my dad laugh back in 1998.

Considering all of the Ocean episodes have been redubbed and aired, I'm pretty sure Thursday's was the last one. FUNi said they were redubbing all the stuff that wasn't already released Uncut and voiced by the Ocean cast. So, since Thrusday's episode ended exactly where the Ocean's episode 53 did, doesn't this logicly mean no more redub episodes? Everything after that point is already released by FUNi uncut.

It would, but that's not where Ocean ended. I remember it clearly. The Ocean episodes ended with Burter and Jeice zipping around Goku. That's the last episode. I've seen it enough times to know it. That's where the season ended.Conan the SSJ wrote:Considering all of the Ocean episodes have been redubbed and aired, I'm pretty sure Thursday's was the last one. No kidding. That's where YTV got the bum's rush with new episodes for the longest time.Xyex wrote:It would, but that's not where Ocean ended. I remember it clearly. Well, I have all of the Ocean episodes on tape, and episode 53: the last Ocean dubbed episode, ended with an image of Goku imbedded on the image of the shadowed Golden Oozaru, the Ocean Narrator saying: "Has Goku really become a Legendary Super Saiyan, could his new powers really be any match to the evil Frieza? Stay tuned for scenes from the next episode of Dragonball Z..."
That's where Ocean episode 53, the LAST Ocean episode, ended. And that's also where last Thursday's redub episode ended.

Yeah... Burta and Jheece are actually about to attack Goku in the Saban episode, as I recall... that doesn't happen until a few minutes into the next episode.Super Sonic wrote:A lot of the old dub had their ending shots the same as this one only in different places I noticed.

Next time on Dragonball Z: Son Goku fights Burter and Jeice while Ginyu trains new recrutes! Meanwhile, our favorite Chestnut, Son of the Monkey King, and Vegetable watch as The Monkey King fights the Dairy Force and is left on a cliffhanger that only those with the DVDs can see the end of! Then, Goku goes back to his spaceship, goes to Earth, rewinds time Superman-Style, goes back on the spaceship, goes to the Absolution, and we can enjoy the redub episodes on Saturdays at 7:30 for possibly another year!
Yea, the last line was suppose to be funny, show Toonami's showings of Dragonball Z Uncut, and to show that this topic may last a LOT longer than we think.
Can anyone fill me in on all the swears so far? I lost track about 3 weeks ago.

Well, as previously stated by Mike D, Jheese said that he was pissed. Ah, ironic that the first curse in the DB dub is the same one as the last one. Well, now that it's gonna be running on Toonami, there's no way I'll be able to get all the episodes on tape. Oh well; I'll just buy those DVDs, and I need those Ginyu discs, too.
