I'm astonished that people think they're only covering two Arcs here.
So far we've seen 2 very short trailers, and had zero info alongside them.

In any DBZ game that attempts to adapt the original source material, BNE have never played their hand immediately by showing/announcing all 4 Arcs in the first trailers/info given.

From a marketing standpoint, they won't move on to announcing more Arcs until they are done with the first two.
Check the old V-Jumps, they announce them in order.

DBZ Kakarott. That is such a dumbass name. What is that supposed to mean? Goku never even calls himself Kakarott up until the Broly movie.

It seems as though the general consensus for this game is split. I still wont understand people complaining about how all we get are Z story games as if the past few years haven’t had db games with original stories. Plus the fact that this seems to be an anniversary game for DBZ’s anniversary.

I really hope Goku isn’t the only playable character seeing as how most fights in Z dont even have him. He only has like 5 battles in the Saiyan saga and about 5 in the Namek saga.
I called it that Gogeta, Bardock, and something Broly related would be in the movie before it was even announced that it was a Broly movie. 8)

They generally reveal characters separately, and sometimes grouped by arc, but often the big stars, like main villains, are there from the beginning.

See Burst Limit's first trailer for example.

Now that I look back at it, Raging Blast's first trailer was missing the Buu Saga though.

But it was confirmed by the time we got a 2nd trailer.

Probably because this game focuses on the two arcs that are tied to Saiyan backstory.

Why would it be an original story game when the first trailer only showed off Saiyan Saga and Namek Saga stuff?

Raging Blast never showed Buu in its first trailer, and Ultimate Tenkaichi didn't show Cell or the androids until the second trailer.
It seems to be hit and miss, and purely down to marketing.

Seems to just be Saiyan and Freeza Saga.

Early 2020 release date.
If they can nail those 2 arcs then it'll be enough. The sequel will cover Cell-Buu. I do wish we could get something that covers the original DB but it's clearly not profitable enough for such a game, unfortunately.
They could also do story DLC after the main game comes out. Though, that WOULD feel a bit expensive.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

I don't really know what to think of this game.

The graphics are cool, but the gameplay, main story lenght, roster and RPG elements are still a mystery.

The story so far only goes until Freeza Arc and nowadays I can't take a DBZ game seriously that doesn't bother to cover all DBZ arcs. That's like a minimum requirement.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Raditz to Buu is such an awkward period to do for games like this. Finish at Vegeta? You’d need to pad out a lot aka Attack of the Saiyans. Finish at Freeza? Not bad, but it ends with a power up you won’t have had and didn’t really “earn” through gameplay. End at Cell? Different main character. Buu? That’s a whole mess in and of itself. Not to mention the issue of Goku being out of commission for so much of it.

I dunno, after FighterZ, Xenoverse and Fusions, it’s just hard to care about something like this. They should have gone OG Dragon Ball or Super, those would fit a single protagonist RPG better.

If it's going to be as detailed as I think it will then anything more than those 2 arcs may be too much for one game. I'd rather a shorter story that's as close to the manga as possible over a longer one that skips parts of it.
I'm having Sagas flashbacks. Shudders

I think it is. We've had enough of those dark ages of Dragon Ball games...

Yes.

You may want to take a look at the first Dragon Ball Xenoverse trailer, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 trailer and Dragon Ball FighterZ trailer.

There is something in common among them: no actual story is given. Anyone could tell that these games would be the same crap from Raditz to Buu, I myself thought that would be the case. But thankfully it wasn't the case at all. So it doesn't really matter what the trailer shows us, it's there just to tease. Even with this E3 trailer, which didn't show anything again, I'm still hoping there's more to it.

Anyway, speaking of the E3 trailer, if the game does turn out to be from Raditz to Freeza without anything different/new, then I might skip it unless they at least bring Bardock TV Special and/or Dragon Ball Minus into the mix. As they are related to the latter portion, specially Freeza saga. Thus expanding and making things more interesting.

The trailer looked good, from a visual standpoint.

But I'm still not sold on another Raditz to Boo retelling, not much how much they pad it out with superficial bullshit.

Just gonna state my personal opinion here:

This game doesn't look interesting to me that much. The graphics aren't that appealing compared to something like FighterZ (please mind my ignorance), and the trailer hasn't given anything to excite me about. It just looks like another Dragon Ball Z re-telling, but this time focusing on Goku... ok.

Why can't we ever have a normal adventure series that starts from the very beginning of Dragon Ball (starting from Minus or from Goku meeting Bulma) and we can continue all the way to Super and EoZ? How hard is that? Why must we always be stuck with Z when it comes to the Dragon Ball video game re-tellings?

Here's some fun with the name since it doesn't seem people are liking it:

• Dragon Ball: Ultimate Saiyan
• Dragon Ball: Kakarot Chronicles
• Dragon Ball: Saiyan Destiny
• Dragon Ball: Clash of Saiyans
• Dragon Ball: Rise of a Saiyan
• Dragon Ball: Kizuna Drive
• Dragon Ball: Gekito Saiyan Taisen!
• Kakarot: Path of the Saiyan
• Kakarot to Gohan: Saiyan Striker/Bardock to Kakarot: Saiyan Striker

Sorry for the lack of creativity, just went with the way CC names Naruto games. :P Pick the one you liked the most or be welcome to come up with your own.

They just released more than ten minutes' worth of gameplay footage.

https://youtu.be/pwgIngSDUHY

Looks to be pretty interesting. It looks like a little bit mixture of Legacy of Goku and Xenoverse. I do wonder if it's only going to be two arcs or if they are going to cram the entire story in one game.

This looks fantastic. The trailer was good, but I watched that gameplay interview from IGN and I am totally on board with this game. Goku can go fishing by shoving a Saiyan tail in his ass. 10/10.

Gotta say, I'm loving the look of this game so far. It kind of looks like what Sagas tried to do on PS2 ages ago, except, you know...good. And I am so here for that. We are so beyond overdue for a good, non-fighting game Dragon Ball experience, and if this delivers, I will be ecstatic.

I was happy with the trailer but now I’m absolutely sold on the gameplay. The free roam flying is something I’ve wanted in a DBZ game for over a decade! The map looks beautiful.

Going by that gameplay, they’re keeping a lot secret but we’re almost definitely getting to play as more than just Goku, and likely go beyond Freeza. There’s lots of Easter eggs too which could mean movie villains.

Because of the new movie Bandai probably after the movie thought saying Kakarot was hip now so hence the title they even tweeted saying he is better known as Goku so why name the game Kakarot then...?

If the new film never happened no way this would be called Kakarot, I feel.
