This really highlights just how much the quality of Yamamuro's designs has declined over the years. I don't necessarily hate Yamamuro's designs for the current age of Dragon Ball, but he sure as hell has gotten lazy with them. I mean, his character design are serviceable to varying degree, but a total far cry from what they could/should be.

I like the old design much better, but I still don't think the new ones are bad. Just not as good.

The only thing I like about the newer designs is that the neck isn't as big; otherwise, the old one definitely looks better.

The old one is better hands down, but i gotta admit that the new one is more practical, especially for an anime that airs weekly with a horrible schedule.

The old one practically crushes the new one, grinds it up into ashes, and smokes the living crap out of them.

More Ishikawa, I really want to know if Ishikawa is the only Supervisor, I wouldn't be surprised after episode 54. I hope we're at the point that regular episodes can be supervised by one person.

It seems like lately a lot more artists and animators are straying away from Yamamuro's designs. Is he loosening up the reigns a little bit?
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Seems like that, your Ajay's ended up being surprised that he was supervisor for the "F" special since the animators ended up being able to do their own stuff.

Middle two definitely really don't like how early SS hair looked at all.

Is it wrong that I prefer the Resurrection F version? It just seems to capture the intensity and raw anger of the moment the best.

Nope, I also prefer It. Never particularly cared for that shot in both the anime and manga. The F special absolutely knocked those scenes out of the park. I mean, damn, they finally nailed Goku's sad look, too.

The two at the very top. I always felt early SSJ hair was beautiful and was sad it sort of turned into a stringy mess as time went on. And I just love cel animated stuff so yeah. The Resurrection F Special one looks aight though.

Absolutely with you on that.

To clarify my opinion better, it's just that one particular pan that I don't like.

This is great, and this, and this, but that one particular pan that's almost 1:1 with the manga panel... Eh, it doesn't do it for me. The angle and proportions haven't ever sat right with me, so it was nice to see the F special fix that while also looking pretty damn nice.

Oh, man... I loved that shot sad-looking SSJ Goku. It was just wonderful.

Yeah that part always annoyed me in the anime. It's one of Toriyama's most poignant panels in the manga but in the anime he's just looking down with a generic stern expression.

Also do you have more examples of that new guy's promo art?
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Ajay, that promo artist reminds me of Naoki Miyahara. He draws his noses almost exactly like him.

There's a big gap between ROF, as the best version, and all the other ones.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

My personnel favorite is that DBZ fan animation that came out a while back that re-does the whole sequence with Kai's dub. It easily has some of the best camera angles I've seen used for that part in animation, particularly how it zooms in on Freezas eye and you see SS Goku's glow in it. out of the official ones, F is the best.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.
