I'm pretty sure the blacks are supposed to be dark in those shots for dramatic effect.

The heavy shadow in the image isn't the problem, the issue is that the filter removed details that were supposed to be in the drawings.

I don't think they're going to come out and announce who each one is but we'll probablyget things in magazeens and episode descriptions.

That thought crossed my mind, but take a close look at what's in the dark, it doesn't look like it was meant to be obscured as much as it was. I'm sure PP did this on purpose, but it wasn't the original intent of the drawing itself, and crushed blacks are pretty much always bad unless you're actively trying to obscure something.

My guess? Super Saiyan Red. I think they probably saw that people liked the color of Super Saiyan God and missed the form so they wanted something to be similar.
I bet that after he gets the form the fight scene that follows that in the opening will be edited so that Goku is in the form.

They did it with the 1st 4 arcs so I don't see why they wouldn't with this.

But really, this opening has me hyped. I'd go as far as to say it's even better than Cha-la.

It's all kinds of fanservicy too. Like we have Gohan training with Piccolo, Kame-sennin removing his glasses and getting serious, Goku showing off a new technique/ transformation.

It's hard to not get excited at this point.

Well, I guess that was a bit of a wrong choice for words, but it just got me hyped. Most people who've read Dragon Ball from the beginning would be excited to see Muten Roshi kick butt again, wouldn't they? (Even if he's retired.)

The last time he removed his glasses was against Piccolo Daimao, plus it just reminds me of all the cool techniques he performed as Jackie Chun in the 21st Budokai. Isn't fan-service giving fans what they want?
Because I definitely want to see Roshi's techniques again, don't you?

The Animedia article of the arc (kind of) teased the possibility of Goku getting a new form in this arc a few weeks ago, and with that peculiar shot of him in the opening, I think there’s a big chance that we might have another transformation. It has been quite a while since Super Saiyan Blue debuted in Resurrection F, so I wouldn’t mind it.

As usual, I’m looking forward to this month’s NewType magazine. I hope they take their time and won’t rush things around, an episode about #17 would be nice, they could show what he’s doing around, his family, etc.

It won't surprise me if Goku gets a new form. In 2015, we got SSj Blue in the ROF movie and 2016 give us both SSj Rose & SSj Rage. I think every year since 2015, will give us a new SSj Form.
