Zamasu is not coming back, let's just put that out there now.

I know, it's crazy but he had an evil look on his face and the background doesn't scream "good".

It looks... sinister, yeah. Though I wonder if this suggesting another transformation? Because it reminds me of the "Super Kaoi-ken".



The sinister face could just be that smug/competitive Saiyan-y kinda look he gets sometimes:



The red energy and the split face kind of make it look "evil", though. Hrm. I wouldn't expect them to do another "Evil Goku" thing again so soon, but who knows?

He's clearly powering up in that scene, but comes cutting the red energy in base. I think it's fairly obvious they'll eventually replace that with a new transformation.

I just realised.....the intro gave away all the universes U7 is going to fight!

Nah, I think it was basically just showing two teams as far as fighters from other universes go - Universe 6 and the alien's universe. The shot with Hit and Magetta had exactly 5 characters, who'd be enough to complete the U6 team, and the shot with the alien had at least two other characters from his team, so it'd be odd if the remaining two were from random other teams.

I wonder if the human looking characters will be similar to the ones the U19 beings in DBM. In DBM, the beings in U19 can use high tech armor to win against powerful beings.

And it looks like there will be an exhibition match between U7 and U9 and Goku said in the preview.

It will be Goku, Gohan and Piccolo? Vs Team U9.(3 VS 3)

If we get multiple 1 vs 1 matchup, Goku wins while Gohan and Piccolo job.

Gohan jobbing would make sense because that will motivate him in regaining his Mystic form(see the new Opening):

It's just a hype line, it means that he'll be surprised.

I didn't either but the look on his face AND the background make it seem like there's more going on than just a transformation.

The tournament starts in the next episode so is there even enough time for him to get so much stronger that he finds a new transformation ?

I already want to see the exhibition match with U9, I'm excited because Gohan will fight, and that's something that doesn't happen a lot nowadays.

My guess? Super Saiyan Red. I think they probably saw that people liked the color of Super Saiyan God and missed the form so they wanted something to be similar.
I bet that after he gets the form the fight scene that follows that in the opening will be edited so that Goku is in the form.

Super Saiyan God is Super Saiyan Red. The joke was even used in the Super manga.

Pretty funny this image is already being used as a thumbnail for "GOKU HAS A NEW FORM!? NEW GOD POWER?!" videos. That was really fast.

I do find it pretty interesting that he drops Blue then goes back to base after this. Makes me kind of want him to do that in the actual fight.

Yeah, people are overthinking it. Just like when they overthought the RoF poster that had a smug looking SS Goku on it.

I've thought about it, and I have what I think is a pretty solid hypothesis on what this red thing is. Remember that guy who said he's working more closely with the anime team this arc? Someone that makes use of a certain red form in his own work that hasn't been used for quite some time the anime? Yeah, that guy's influence is my guess.

Obviously, I'm not 100% sure on that, but I can't think of one reason why it necessarily shouldn't be the case.

One way or another, new transformation is expected. It's been 2 years since blue hair and Bandai gotta sell some new toys and new DLCs for games.

That bit of red aura with SSJB effects should have been the original SSJBKK rather than the double aura thing, not really a fan of that until now, it just downright looks bad. Still I feel like they're just foreshadowing a new form, that they'll change the visuals of that bit after the form is shown, to keep things a secret, they did a good job keeping the bald dude a secret, they hyped the hell out of him in the OP.

Was it confirmed that the Clown and Masked Hood character were from Universe 9?

I saw an image that seemed to suggest it but I don't know if it was fanmade. If it wasn't then it could be true about the opening changing.

The opening shows Goju vs Deadpool alien from U9 and then after that team is dealt with and they move on to the next universe the opening would change to focus on a different opponent.
