Well there's a simple solution here: Give the characters fighters who are ACTUALLY ON THEIR LEVEL. Holding back so much takes away a lot of the tension. I'm not specifically referring to the wolves here though. I'm actually quite excited to see how this one will go. It's just nit-picking, there's nothing wrong with this match.

They should increase team universe 7's power levels and then make all fighters in the whole tournament near them in power and have the fights about skill and technique as having fights based on power is just boring now.TekTheNinja wrote:Well there's a simple solution here: Give the characters fighters who are ACTUALLY ON THEIR LEVEL. I feel like we're mostly in agreement. The only thing I'd add is that I think there should still be some differences in power, but the power gaps we have now are just not interesting. Speak for yourself, good person. I come to dragon ball for simple fights, because thats what it does best. Whenever it tries to do anything thoughtful, it drops the ball or doesn't live up to it's potential or doesn't make sense.namekiansaiyan wrote:They should increase team universe 7's power levels and then make all fighters in the whole tournament near them in power and have the fights about skill and technique as having fights based on power is just boring now.TekTheNinja wrote:Well there's a simple solution here: Give the characters fighters who are ACTUALLY ON THEIR LEVEL. All I want from super in this arc is fun fights, decent characterization and logical sense. Anything else is just a bonus.

The idea that even if you lose you don't have to job is something that is foreign to this fandom. I hope to god that there is at least one team match with no saiyans where they fight a strong dude and still win. Any combination of Krillin, Piccolo, Tien, and Roshi would be nice. No one expects anything from them.

This is really boring actually, I just don't understand what great storytelling idea is there that requires only 3 guys light years ahead of everyone and all others leave fighting and turn pansies with PTSDTekTheNinja wrote: I feel like we're mostly in agreement. Yeah, even if Piccolo lost last time he didn't job. It was a respectable match.Beyond wrote:The idea that even if you lose you don't have to job is something that is foreign to this fandom. I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
That has been the cause since the tournaments began. Goku and whoever was his final opponent was light-years ahead of everyone. The only real exceptions was with Tien since Yamcha and Roshi gave him decent fights despite him holding back. The same with Goku and Krillin.Ki Breaker wrote:This is really boring actually, I just don't understand what great storytelling idea toriyama has that requires only 3 guys light years ahead of everyone and all others leave fighting and turn pansies with PTSDTekTheNinja wrote: I feel like we're mostly in agreement. Dragon Ball never had a team of equals. Since the Freeza Saga it has been the Saiyan and everyone else with Piccolo some time making a cameo. This isn't Yu Yu Hakusho.

Or as Tek ninja put it "<<<<<<<<<<<<<"
Dragonball had fighters who could help in some way, any way, if everyone teamed up they could hold off the enemy for some time..
They had a big gap, even massive sometimes but never has it been so big that everyone is as good as farmer with a shotgun, dosen't matter who you are..
This gets boring fast, there's a reason FT had to be given rage mode, if not it would have been again a goku Vegeta wank fest, frankly no one wants to see only them doing shit around anymore when others
don't even want to try, are weaklings even if they do and got PTSD all over themselves..
It's pathetic form an inuniverse perspective and completely stupid form an out universe, why even keep them around if they aren't capable to doing anything at all when it's necessary, not even useful as a meat shield

Mai and the humans helped out in the anime, last arc. Mai using a bloody shotgun and a bike. In the manga, a far weaker Trunks was able to stall Goku Black so that the others could escape.Ki Breaker wrote:The important term here is "light years"

Weaker characters helping out still happens. Is it less frequent now? I'm not sure.

That is a bit of an assumption since nothing so far says that teams are important outside of clearing out the fodder that Goku and Vegeta could beat by sneezing (I am purposely exaggerating).Ki Breaker wrote: The important term here is "light years"

Well, there was the Saiyan Saga where the entire human cast was just there to die, so I guess they have that.
Mai and Trunks were able to be helpful despite being weak, before Trunks powered-up, because there was more going in on the story arc than fighting. Think of the Namek Saga where Krillin had some of his best moments and it wasn't fighting. The same with Gohan who got one of his crowning moments of awesome when he hid that Dragon Ball from Vegeta and didn't even throw a punch.LightBing wrote: Mai and the humans helped out in the anime, last arc. A tournament is far more limited unless there's stuff going on in the background.

Trunks trained with Vegeta and thats why he reached SSJB level(even though it was mostly offscreened like Trunks and Kid Trunks "Fight").Ki Breaker wrote: The important term here is "light years"

Gohan could reach that level, SSJ Ikari also fits him too.

Yes FT arc had some kind of help from others, that's why I gave it's example to show we need others too, specifically trunks..
It is less frequent now.. Ft arc ending was bad too because they had to have someone other do finishing blow and everyone else was so much more weaker that they had to come up with the craziest shit to let trunks evem come close to damaging Zamasu.. wouldn't have happened if others were closer to their levels..
What? It's not necessary for "humans" to do stuff..HeroR wrote: That is a bit of an assumption since nothing so far says that teams are important outside of clearing out the fodder that Goku and Vegeta could beat by sneezing (I am purposely exaggerating).
Well, there was the Saiyan Saga where the entire human cast was just there to die, so I guess they have that.
Gohan helped a ton by ape form, yajirobe cut his tail off, Krillin controlled the genki dama and was ready to kill off vegeta..
They are basically all spineless weaklings now and don't care enough to change it..
This is pathetic no matter how you cut it..
And that's my point, why have them in the story when they can't help do shit, when goku and Vegeta can beat everyone with a look why have them there, it's a story after all just have them continue with their PTSD lives and make the team a 2 man force

I think the preliminary rounds will cut down the fighters of each universe from 10 to maybe 3-4.
Goku and Vegeta will of course make the cut. I'd say Piccolo and Gohan will be the other 2 but I won't be surprised if Buu manages to take one of their spots.

July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
