I'm not criticizing the scenes for what they are or saying they're good or bad. I'm just saying they set a certain mood. This is true for the whole movie the minute you see Beerus and he starts making kawaii faces. The Namek saga, on the other hand, is generally serious, even with the Ginyu Force. There's always that sense of tension where you fear the characters will run into Frieza's men or Vegeta. BoG fails to create that even with the threat of Beerus because of its lightheartedness and, another example, Beerus break-dancing and Whis enjoying food.Ushabtis wrote:>evil Vegeta killing namekian villagefadeddreams5 wrote:I'm sure you can see the difference between the tone in the Android saga, the History of Trunks special, and BoG, right?
And how something like this creates a certain mood:

While this creates the opposite:

yet the Andriods in present time line are cruising about in a car in the mountains chillin shopping for cloths with one even falling in love with Nature

that was supposed to be funny and show how far Vegeta has come as a good-hearted person
>Whis getting to slapped Beerus out cold with one hit
Beerus was running around like an idiot, if that was a serious fight it wouldn't have ended in one hit. It was supposed to be funny.

Well it doesn't help that the Beerus stuff happens before EOZ. So i agree the level of tension is pretty low.fadeddreams5 wrote:BoG fails to create that even with the threat of Beerus because of its lightheartedness and, another example, Beerus break-dancing and Whis enjoying food.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Is the consensus that 'Super' will be an ongoing, weekly series rather than a short one-off season of say, 20-30 episodes?
Possible that they're going to wait and test the waters, if you like? See the reaction to it/viewing figures and then make a decision from there?
I'm still surprised by how little we know about the show with it being less than a month from airing. I don't know what to make of that.

There's no indication of either way yet but given the timeslot one would think the idea is to let the series run for as long as possible.BlackCatScott wrote:Is the consensus that 'Super' will be an ongoing, weekly series rather than a short one-off season of say, 20-30 episodes?

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I think 20-26 episodes is good for the first saga. I would like to have Super run for three or four sagas. Casual fans are hoping for a 200 episode series when that's never going to happen. I see people that say one of the reasons that GT sucked because it was too short. GT was short, but it's length had nothing to do why the show was bad in my opinion.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I realistically see the show lasting at least 50 episodes, but it all really depends on how well received the first dozen episodes or so are received. That, and also how well tie-in merchandise sales are. But I have an eerie feeling that Dragon Ball Super could somehow end up becoming a long running shonen anime ala One Piece.

Super could also end if Toriyama feels like that he is done righting Dragon Ball for good since he's a pretty old guy now. I wonder if Super ends up being the final series for good from Toriyama?

23rd Budokai kinda does this already, though he really doesn't say he'll spend time with his family.fadeddreams5 wrote:*Goku gets proposed the opportunity to train with the strongest beings and become a guardian for the multiverse*

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Well, I honestly think that Super may be Toriyama's final major contribution to Dragon Ball, but I hope that's not the case. He proved with BOG, Beerus and Whis and Jaco, he can still be pretty creative. But I have a feeling that even if Toriyama were to leave his position as writer in Dragon Ball Super, somebody within Toei will most likely take his place and the show will just continue without him, because money talks. But if comes to that, lets hope somebody good takes his position.Hellspawn28 wrote:Super could also end if Toriyama feels like that he is done righting Dragon Ball for good since he's a pretty old guy now. Even if it's making a lot of $$$ and Toriyama wants to write more stories ?Hellspawn28 wrote:Casual fans are hoping for a 200 episode series when that's never going to happen.
Or it'll end when he's done and they'll announce a new series written by them cause if they continue S on their own and it's quality goes down it'll hurt the entire show which is why I think they made Gt instead of continuing Z.Lord Beerus wrote:I have a feeling that even if Toriyama were to leave his position as writer in Dragon Ball Super, somebody within Toei will most likely take his place and the show will just continue without him.

When with comes to series. Super will definitely be the last one from Toriyama. I still can't believe Super is happening...Hellspawn28 wrote:Super could also end if Toriyama feels like that he is done righting Dragon Ball for good since he's a pretty old guy now. Now when it comes to movies?! Only time will tell.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
It still hasn't hit me that we're getting a new series, mainly due to the lack of information we're having. I don't think Toei is really doing a good job of hyping up the series.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I do think they just don't have the material ready yet. I want them to (and I bet Funi does too), but I guess Toei isn't giving it any special treatment. Or they're behind schedule.
On hiatus.

I don't think so, that's just gonna make people forget about it and lose interest.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
It's difficult to wait, but the fact they're remaining tight lipped, is a good sign. They know the news about Super has been all over the internet.
There's no danger whatsoever that people will forget about it - it premieres in 3 weeks. We only have just over a week until V-Jump releases (it will likely leak before anyhow) so we should have at least some news to keep us talking until the 1st episode.
The hard waiting is now behind us.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I have a feeling we're going to get a teaser/trailer for Super towards the end of this month. It's quite interesting how so little information has come out.
