If Goku didn't fight last, not counting Monaka, Beerus would have been screwed. What if Goku lost before he reached Hit? What if Goku was too tired to fight Hit and lost? Do you think Vegeta would have done better than Goku without the Kaioken because of Hit's improvements?
Beerus got lucky and he shouldn't mess around and let his best fight first.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

All fighters are fighting for their survival so it makes no difference if he is good or bad.
Why would he not? Regardless if he fights second or third, he might lose. Goku has a pretty poor track record against underhanded tactics in general.
Eh, who doesnt though ? Gohan against boo and piccolo against Frost for instance.
Hero R, Beerus doesnt really care about the order. He let them do rock paper scissors after all.
True. Everyone in this series are vulnerable at times to underhanded tactics, so who really knows. We don't even know if this preliminary will be like how champ's tournament was (i.e. if Boo beats Basil he fights again afterwards), or if it's just one fight each for a person.

Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

I get your point, but I don't know if Beerus is going to be thinking like that.

I wonder, any chance this is gonna end like the second tournament back in Dragonball? With our heroes coming home (Winning/Surviving the tournament) to some great tragedy taking place while they were away at the tournament, kick-starting the next arc?
When Super apparently shoves Goku down our throats:

HeroR wrote:The characters in Super can work with Goku and they're treated like equals to him. Goku just being in the room doesn't take away from the character. In Z, the characters were so depended on Goku that they couldn't go an episode without mentioning him in some way even by hoping he will arrived, get better, training to get stronger, our last hope, being like him, ect. Goku was wanked to hell in Z, even when he wasn't in the room and everyone else was secondary to him. In fact, this was a major issue Goku had, which is why he didn't want to do anything in the Buu Saga.

I don't think so, DBS Arcs haven't flowed in that way yet. It's not impossible, though.

They usually leave some filler inbetween, maybe have it like the journey back takes a few filler episodes?

Oh God please let this happen!
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.
How the Black Arc Should End (by Lightbing!):
Spoiler:
Absolute Zamasu(my name for their fusion) wins. He fulfils his utopia and dwells in his loneliness(x amount of time for this to happen). He starts to doubt of his achievements, Goku's body influences him to seek out challenges but there's nothing. Perfection becomes a curse. Absolute Zamasu starts to dread his existence and presents himself to the Omni-King, detailing on his actions.
Using his powers the Omni-King restores everything to the moment before Goku and Vegeta perish, humanity's last barrier. Zamasu concedes. He ask for forgiveness(mainly to Goku, Gowasu and Trunks) and understands that his justice isn't justice at all. He asks for judgement and the Omni-King delivers.
Trunks is forced never to travel in time ever again, all the time-machines are destroyed.

On one hand this seems to be the case almost certainly but I still can't rule out the possibility of goku losing and gohan beating 2 of them, probably my liking for gohan is speaking here

This match will be arranged only for Zeno's pleasure, so I predict the fights will be:
Buu vs Basil - Buu wins
Goku vs Bergamo - Bergamo wins
Gohan vs Lavanda - Gohan wins
Basically, the winners won't have to fight again, and there's no winning universe. They just fight to please the Zenos. So logically every single fighter is going to fight, as they want to see all of them fighting, they wouldn't want to see someone soloing the other universe team (something Buu would be able to do imo)

No way fam he'll lose. I just hope it's close.

That's going to be upsetting though, there is no guarantee he could redeeme himself in the real tournament either..
I would much rather have gohan win some fights here when the participants are less and it's not important to give everyone some kind of moments which overshadows his

That's legit what I'm trying to wonder. How are these preliminary matches set up? Does a character continue fighting if they win like in U6 vs. U7 tournament?

The salt if this should happen. Best/Worst part is, it's not out of the realm of possibility.

It's not that I want to, I'm just expecting him to at this point. It might even have a positive side of making him train intensely. Although some people on here want him to job because they have hate boners for him haha.

I mean, we know Goku is more than likely fighting him, but I could just as easily see him lose. All I'm hoping is that if any of U7 wins, that Majin Boo wins.
