I'm not the biggest fan of Gohan here, but if that happened even I would feel for those fans.

It's not that I want to, I'm just expecting him to at this point. It might even have a positive side of making him train intensely. Although some people on here want him to job because they have hate boners for him haha.
I mean, we know Goku is more than likely fighting him, but I could just as easily see him lose. All I'm hoping is that if any of U7 wins, that Majin Boo wins.
I'm the opposite. I liked Majin Boo as a villian (all forms but kid Boo the most ), but he's been eh ever since. Him losing won't really make me feel anything.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

I imagine because Toei has been wanting to do something with him and now they finally can.
Even if he loses in this fight that doesn't mean he's going to be worthless for the actual tournament, we don't know what kind of prep time they will have.
Your right about that even if gohan loses to the U9 match that doesn't mean he will be a worthless jobber but sadly the salty fans are going to bash DBS and act is like the end of the world and saying stuff like omfg gohan sucks just watch the moment that gohan loses the YouTube community is going to freak out

if gohan loses this match that doesn't mean he will be a worthless jobber he has plenty of matches in the future

At the end of Resurrection F he's training again with Piccolo then when Trunks ask Piccolo what's Gohan doing Piccolo flat out says Gohan is done with fighting, full-stop. Trunks doesn't even bother to tell him "Hey! Some guy who looks like your dad has murdered my mom and is driving me insane! Can you help?" and then when Gohan hears about this his whole reaction is to be mildly irritated then.... nothing until he needs to wave Trunks goodbye.
You're remembering pretty badly. Piccolo said he was done being a martial artist, which is true, he just trains so he can keep his family safe. Recently when Krillin said he was going to get strong again he said he told Goku he wasn't going to become a martial artist again, he was just going to get strong for his daughter, same deal.
He was also not "mildly irritated" he was completely shocked to find out about the reason why Trunks had come to the past. He probably didn't go to the future with them after that because he knew he wasn't strong enough and then when Trunks is leaving for the final time we see him rush to say goodbye with Piccolo, sweating and out of breath and seemingly in his ultimate form.
So his way of keeping his family safe against God tier opponents is to train so he can stay Super Boo tier.... right, that seems like the sensible thing to do in a life where every bad guy after the last is worse and far more powerful. Also, his reaction is completely deflated by the fact he doesn't even say anything to anyone, he just internally says "No one told me?!" and then doesn't voice these concerns to anyone else or do anything about it. He doesn't volunteer to help his dad with the Mafuuba or to help Vegeta train so he can get stronger or even help Piccolo demonstrate the Mafuuba, something, anything! He just fucks off back home then doesn't even get called up by anyone to see Trunks off or to talk to him about the fact he kept Gohan out of the loop.
Seriously, what are we even talking about anymore with this character? Does Toriyama have to kick everyone in the dick then tell us "Gohan doesn't fucking matter!" before people get the beginnings of a clue that he IS seen as totally worthless?
His peak means nothing anymore. So to reach that so called goal, he'd have to be up to the relevant level. Otherwise everything he failed to protect before, would have been the same even if he trained. Wouldn't have mattered. It's god tier or go home today. Go home is his pick...until he wakes up for something different, and then chooses go home again.
It'd likely happen if he just stopped making appearances...but he keeps on appearing again and again. If he weren't in this tournament, people would eventually focus on everything else more often than not. But since Toriyama loves trolling, he probably brings Gohan back so he can rub it in fans faces, and kick him in the dick some more .
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

The indecisiveness is the crux of the problem. They keep flip flopping when its very simple when Gohan has nothing to do keep him out of it and when something may need his involvement, bring him in. This half-way measure just jerks around people who like him and adds more fuel for the fire of those who don't when he's an ineffective and/or indecisive character.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.
How the Black Arc Should End (by Lightbing!):
Spoiler:
Absolute Zamasu(my name for their fusion) wins. He fulfils his utopia and dwells in his loneliness(x amount of time for this to happen). He starts to doubt of his achievements, Goku's body influences him to seek out challenges but there's nothing. Perfection becomes a curse. Absolute Zamasu starts to dread his existence and presents himself to the Omni-King, detailing on his actions.
Using his powers the Omni-King restores everything to the moment before Goku and Vegeta perish, humanity's last barrier. Zamasu concedes. He ask for forgiveness(mainly to Goku, Gowasu and Trunks) and understands that his justice isn't justice at all. He asks for judgement and the Omni-King delivers.
Trunks is forced never to travel in time ever again, all the time-machines are destroyed.

Understandable. I've always loved Boo in general (I also prefer Pure Boo the most), though I'm completely fine with the Boo we have now. I'm glad he's getting the first fight of this saga though, especially since he hasn't fought in over 60 episodes.

Sad but true, they might even overlook Buus win and call DBS the Goku and Vegeta show
The order is predictable though
Buu is first, then Gohan and the Goku is saved for the end, why would Goku fight before the final fight? It only happened in the Buu Saga because Gohan was still the main protagonist.

I agree. Because of Gohan's massive potential, people will NEVER give up on him. He is literally the EASIEST character to write into relevancy. That is the biggest reason why he is clamored for beyond the popularity reason. Because of his history as a character, it means he always has an easy way back. If they just threw away his potential somehow in a storyline, that'd pretty much put an end to Gohan and the knee jerking.

You light weight. I'll raise you a Broly Name drop for when the female Saiyan is introduced. Not a relative, a name drop just to say he existed. The salt was legendary just from female Broly existing. If they just say the name Broly....the salt and tears would be almost Omni King destructive worthy. The salt will literally be MAXIMUM!

If Gohan really lose to a bunch of fleabag mutts I'll already lose all hope in this arc. A bunch of mangy flea-ridden mutts who look like they belong back in the pet shop taking down Gohan would be a slap in the face to fans. Someone needs to put these dogs down and back in the kennel where they belong.
Gohan hasn't been flip flopping, he trains to protect his family and they've been consistent with that.

Vegeta fans seem to forget that he must lose to the new strongest person of the arc.

Vegeta fans should be the last ones to complain considering how much screentime he's gotten.

The are 12 universes and the people in them are going to look to different. What they look like means notbing when it comes to strength in Dragon ball.

The reason why Gohan does not like fighting and is allowed to eventually become a scholar is so Toriyama had a reason to write him out of relevancy.

Besides everyone knowing he was going to lose to Hit, they were also mad that Vegeta had 0 offense vs Hit, he got straught up mauled unlike his fights vs Cell, Buu, even Beerus.
I honestly hope Gohan will do what he did during Cell arc, when he had become worthless and then surpassed everyone by training in the Time Chamber and achieving SSJ. I would love to see Goku train him once again.
