I liked it. It wasn't anything great, but I do love martial arts tournaments so
I wonder if this crossover special will ever make it to the states? I have plans on watching One Piece sometime or another because I liked some of the characters in this special.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I don't think I am interested enough to read that far. Maybe when I've finished some of the other series I'm getting into.rereboy wrote:In my experience, the Ice Hell arc is where we make up our minds about whether we really like this manga or not.Saiga wrote:Eh, I've read four volumes so far while 3-4 were a step up from the first two it still isn't really appealing to me. I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

And just how far in is this 'Ice Hell' arc anyway? I've been contemplating at least giving Toriko a go eventually, to see if I'd like it or not. Maybe after I get done with catching up on Fairy Tail, if I don't get burnt out on shonen stuff for a while by the end of it.

Toriko is good from the get go. Ice hell is just one of those iconic moments or series of events that kind of brands a series and makes you a real fan (or not). Its around volume 9 and such.Gyt Kaliba wrote:And just how far in is this 'Ice Hell' arc anyway? I've been contemplating at least giving Toriko a go eventually, to see if I'd like it or not. From what its worth, I like it much better than Fairy Tail.

Ah, okay. That's not too awful far in at all, I can at least get that far when I give it a go. I know what you're talking about too - I liked One Piece from it's start too, but I do agree with a lot of people that Arlong is where you first start to realize how awesome it can get.rereboy wrote:Toriko is good from the get go. Definitely intrigued now if you consider it better than Fairy Tail, since I'm really enjoying that.

Well, Fairy Tail was pretty good at first, but has become worse over time. The author has made some, in my view, poor choices. The fan service has also been increasing and becoming exponentially annoying. The most recent arc is the worst of the series so far. Many people actually think that the author's previous manga (rave master) is superior to fairy tail, while still being similar in many ways. I've not read Rave Master yet but I have no problem believing them since I think that Fairy Tail could have been much better if the author had executed things differently.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Ah, okay. I could point out what I think is wrong with Fairy Tail but I don't want to sound like I'm bashing it. And I'm still following it, so at least its enjoyable.
But Toriko, so far, is, as a rule, becoming better and better.
And yeah, the Arlong Arc was, for me also, the first big moment in terms of really liking One Piece (that moment when Luffy puts his hat on Nami sold me).

Only read Toriko when it ran as a preview in SJ magazine. Have all of the first season of Fairy Tail, but only saw volume one as of this posting, (need to get around to watching the rest). Did see a clip of Toriko that seemed cool though:

This special had me smiling a lot, even though I was kinda bothered by how badly the Dragonball characters (and Satan's voice).Super Sonic wrote:Only read Toriko when it ran as a preview in SJ magazine. I really enjoyed this. The fact that Goku actually was showed being stronger than the other two is pretty cool. I loved the fact that Goku had to go "save the planet", but still made it back in time. The fighting part was also pretty cool, and I loved the way Satan won! xD
I also loved the way the DB characters interacted with the Toriko and One Piece characters, it seemed so genuine. I also loved the fact that Zoro, Vegeta and the last guy was away fighting for the entire crossover xD

No worries there, I get what you're trying to say I think. I'm pretty much the same with with Naruto nowadays - I still enjoy it, and it hits some high points still, but Kisihimoto made some bad unalterable decisions along the way IMO, that continually chip away at how much I'm enjoying other stuff going forward. So I definitely know the vibe you're talking about - can't say for sure if I feel the same way on Fairy Tail for sure or not though. I just recently got all caught up, so it's all kind of a blur to me at the moment. The current arc definitely seems overly long though.rereboy wrote:Well, Fairy Tail was pretty good at first, but has become worse over time. The author has made some, in my view, poor choices. Re: One Hour Toriko/One Piece/DBZ crossover to Air April 7
saw this yesterday.
it was better than i expected.
It was obvious that dbz characters would get nerfed like hell but strength wasnt the point here. (Still cant get used how satan is so skinny like now)
Some moments were fun to watch.
The last battle agaisnt that monster was well animated and even nerfed, goku still shone
Second part was better the first one.
But overall i enjoyed it. Only like this i would watch something from one piece or toriko.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Thought I'd ask, which series' Funi lead do you guys like the most, Sean Schemmel, Colleen Clinkenbeard, or Ian Sinclair? (With Mr. Sinclair, for those who haven't watched the Toriko dub, maybe his other roles on Rosario + Vampire, Panty & Stocking, etc).

I know Ian Sinclair for background roles mostly, so he's definitely out of the question for me. Between Schemmel and Clinkenbeard...hmm...I'd have to say I probably enjoy Colleen's performances a little more, though Schemmel's come a long way. I'd love just hearing those two interact period.Super Sonic wrote:Thought I'd ask, which series' Funi lead do you guys like the most, Sean Schemmel, Colleen Clinkenbeard, or Ian Sinclair? Still haven't made it to Ice Hell, but my library had volumes 5 and 6 when I went back to turn in 3 and 4. It definitely gets better as it goes along, at least.

I realize I'm semi-exhausted atm, but the way they placed Goku and Toriko into that image totally makes it look like they're holding hands.TheRed259 wrote:http://www.toei-animation.com/en/node/1328
