Animation staff for upcoming episodes are out. If someone can translate the names it would be great.

It's Koyama next week? Interesting. Whether that hand holding teleport stays in tact or not is anyone's game.
On hiatus.

I am stuck on my 3DS right now so I cannot add much. Tate is handling the Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan episode. Hopefully he gets to do something cool. The rest of the staff looks uninspired, though.

So i was right about Ishikawa. With Kitano and Tate coming next, sounds like a good month.
Shimanuki has been improving, but we won't see him until January 10th.

No. Episode 5 was by Naoki Tate. Episode 14 was by Shūichirō Manabe & Kazuhiro Koyama. It was off-model, but it wasn't badly animated like 5 was, though. In fact, it's one of the better bits of animation we've had so far.

Meh not good, it means there's even more 4th tier animation teams in rotation...

One can dream that the team responsible for Goku-punches-Krillin episode did the entire show. That was such a pleasant episode to watch and it wasn't even 100% on-model. Fluid movement, expressive characters. Dumb tractor sequence was hilarious just because of how cool it was animated. Plus it all looked more classical (90s?) in style, a direction that felt would be natural for DBZ continuation (instead of overly-simplistic modern era)

It reminded me of Masunaga's style. Waaaaaaaaaay too over-the-top facial expressions, did not enjoy it.

And yet that episode looked 10 times more mature, like a sequel to Cell saga, than anything in Super yet. Competent animation team can make it all work.

Nothing to do with competence there, really. It was just a case of Iseki ignoring Yamamuro's current character designs. If that's your issue, then your blame should be placed on his work, rather than anything else.

And again, 14's animation isn't bad. The actual motion is just fine. I even linked an example. It's not a case of incompetence, but a case of time. You either get on-model episodes with hardly any motion, or you get episodes like 14 where there's lots of movement, but the model quality is subpar.

Funny and intense faces are just about the only thing we can hope for from a series with no time or sheets to do cool battles.

Or you can get on-model fluid mature yet expressive episode like 16 and have it all. I'll take that option.

Don't be silly. Episode 16 is a dialogue-lead episode. There is nothing in there that comes close to the level of motion required for a fully-fledged fight scene. I love Episode 16, and I'm with you in wishing both were possible, but that's just not going to happen very often with Super. That's all I'm trying to tell you. Keep your expectations realistic.

And if there was it's obvious it would look amazing, considering everything else animated in that episode and how fluid it was. Talented team is talented team and it's obvious at first glance.

No need, I know that perfectly. Doesn't mean I wont dream it could be possible or continue to criticize badly-drawn episodes hoping it all adds up to at least some improvement.

Iseki's episode made for great screen captures but it wasn't a well animated episode. No episode so far has been.

I'm partly wondering if we'll get one in this arc, but I'm not much a fan of the whole Golden Freeza thing, so I wouldn't mind waiting till Uni 6 for it.

Me too, especially since better drawn stuff is there in F movie to watched anyway. U6 stuff may not be turned into final Trilogy movie at all so better to save best staff for that.

Iseki's decision to ignore Yamamuro's designs resulted in one of the most entertaining episodes so far, in my opinion. I understand that Episode 16 was a dialogue-lead episode and that there weren't much action scenes, thus letting the key animators focus on facial expressions and gags. This scenario complemented the humor in the script just fine and the result was a cool little story (Conquer Whis).

I hope Iseki supervises a few more episodes in the future.

Also, nice to see Kitano and Tate's names again
