Honestly, both of them look equally good. I'd say to go with whichever one you're more comfortable with - which I guess just means whichever's easier.

Love how you made Buu Arc Vegeta slightly more muscular, and kept it that way for his BoG attire. I believe it was stated somewhere that Vegeta trained his muscles to the limit in the 7 year time-skip, so that's an amazing Easter egg

The new one is better IMO. The old one looks a bit too messy, but the new one is just right, I think.

Some things I'd work on.
Outline, smaller sprites or even larger sprites look better with an outline as it usually helps with contrast with their surroundings.
Color choices, I would recommend checking out DB's 16 and 32 color pallet, otherwise if you have asesprite or pyxel edit they can help with saturation.
Contrast, everything is too bright and colors are too close to each other.

I would also bend the females arms as they're too straight imho and I'd maybe lose the facial expressions as there isn't room to work with them.

Hey guys. This thread isn't old enough for this to be considered necroposting, is it? lol. I thought I'd show off something I've been working on recently. I based these on the sprites from Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury on the Gameboy Advance.



For the first one, I used Goku, Vegeta, and Videl's sprites as references. The character on the right column is the one I've been working on. She's a character of mine named Pikruel, a female Saiyan from Universe 7. She wears armor similar to Cabba's, but with different colors. It was tricky getting all of the spikes in her hair to be distinguishable from each other, but I like how they turned out.



To those of you who have played Xenoverse, you probably noticed that this one strongly resembles a CaC. To make this one, what I did was take a screen shot of my character in Xenoverse 2, I resized it in Paint to make it pixelated, then I changed every pixel to match the color pallet of Buu's Fury. It took a looooooong time to do, but I'm pretty satisfied with the result, and I'm thinking of doing the same with the character in my current avatar. The golden frame is the same used for the portraits in the pause menu in Buu's Fury.

What do you guys think? I welcome any pointers for improving these. I actually have already implemented some advice I'd seen others receive in this thread, such as creating an outline around each sprite to make them stand out from their environments. I tried to keep the colors on the outside of the sprites on the darker side.

Those are really awesome! The time you put in really shows in the level of detail in each sprite. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more in the future.
