I dunno... they had the US Speed Racer theme going on in Speed Racer, but when the credits start rolling we hear "Mach a go go go!" echo before the remix starts. Granted, the two themes aren't all that different...

I still can't believe that a movie that won't be ready for almost a year now was planned to be out a couple of months ago

As far as I can remember the original release date was for August. Which is next month, not couple of months ago.

Well the "new" release date is next April; so I can see how it's possible to confuse the two.

I've been reading this thread, but I haven't been really checking dbthemovie lately; I'm still very uneasy about this film.

Well, its not an orange gi per say, but its a lot better than the one I saw on the stunt double. The full blue gi is kind of impressive.

I still hate that bang-less haircut though.

Also, tell me "Goku"'s not wearing a checkered cardigan under that jacket in the second photo. >_O

Yeah, pretty sure it is. I think it was also on one of the leaked "posters" that Fox premiered at the licensing expo, as well.

And having looked at the rest of the pics . . . I am amused by Roshi's shirt.

Alright. I like blue gi and Nyoibo very much. That makes me smile. But this man needs to smile. Once. Anywhere. Son Goku is dumb and sweet and friendly, not serious young guy all the time. He gets serious when he fights, and serious when someone is actively kidnapped and that's about it.

Roshi in pervyshirt is very nice surprise. And on one of the blogs it was mentioned that his scarf was pulled round sorta like a turtleneck- and I liked that too. But I do not, do not like Son in checkered sweater. That makes no sense.

I also want a straight-up shot of Yamcha besides that one, and I want anything of Daimaou besides tiny eyes at the top of an ugly poster.

Yeah, I agree with all of this, with the addition thought of Bulma looks pretty cool.

Score 1 for blue dougi.

Score 1 for determined Son Goku in dougi with Nyoibou.

Score 1 for blue strand in Bulma's hair.

However, in none of those pictures did I see happy Son Goku. Give me a smiling Son Goku and we'll have most of my necessary bases covered.

I cleaned up the image a bit, looks kinda bad but I could barely make out the other one. Hopefully they'll add a tail if they have loads of money to waste on CGI.

Seriously. Noone bitches about Path to Power.
This movie does depict him pre-Roshi training, so having a blue gi isn't exactly sacrilege. And guys, he looks like he's either about to fight or train, judging by how he's gripping the bo. I wouldn't mind a pic showing that innocent side of Goku, but this isn't the one I'd expect it from.

The only smiles (not counting bad guys) are from Chibi Goku (and the kids on the movie 11 cover). And yeah, the Daimao Saga is Chibi Goku territory, they did cast Goku as an adult. I have the same concerns as everyone else about Goku's personality, but let's also keep in mind that promo shots of the Japanese films pretty much went for maximum badass factor with once Goku hit adulthood.

I can barely understand that, are you implying the Blue gi is from the 10th anniversary movie and not the actual series?

I put a line break, if that helps. When I said "the movie" I was referring to this one, since it depicts his early training years juxtaposed against the events of the Daimao arc.

And at what point in my post did I say the gi wasn't from the series? Path to Power is a film that takes some early events and mixes them with some later events, and keeps Goku in blue the whole time. It seemed a more fitting parallel than trying to compare the live action film to the Pilaf Saga.
