Not to mention Over-Time chose not to do fan subs of Garo: The Animation because Funimation having the rights to it. Funimation has track down fan subbers before and shut them down like with Anime Labs from what I can recall. There are fan subbers who care to avoid getting shut down for good. Subbers like TV-Nihon are big fan name fan subbing group compare to most other ones.
There are exceptions, sure, but a majority don't. Groups like Underwater, Vivid, Commie, Chihiro, Kaitou, DameDesuYo, and countless others of very high quality, just do not care. There's hundreds of them out there, and they don't buckle to threats. Any issues they've had in the past were easily circumvented.

Either way, whether or not one group gives a shit, my point is that someone will sub the show. No doubt about it.

Anyone think that Kai's ratings may have Toei second-guessing themselves?

Considering how well ROF did i doubt they're seconding guessing themselves.

They do great films but their TV series tend to be lacking.

I was checking the manga sales for this half of the year, and was pleasantly surprised that such an old manga like Parasyte has gained such an incredible number of sales because of, most likely, the recent anime adaptation. Hopefully, Super contributes to the sales of the original manga, too.

It would be cool if Viz releases the manga digitally on their website then releases a physical copy soon.

Hellspawn28 wrote:I hear from A-Kon this past weekend that Funimation has not acquired the licensed for Super yet and even when they do, there will be no dub simulcast because they want to air the dub on Toonami. Plus, there is no way they could get all of the voice actors back on a weekly basis, and they want to do it right. I guess a sub simulcast is still unlikely too. Looks like we have to watch it RAW like we are with Buu saga Kai. I doubt fan subbers like TV-Nihon and Over-Time is going to bother touching it. Fan subbers avoid things that will be licensed to avoid getting their group shut down and getting sued.
I guess that rules out a broadcast dub then. A shame, I can't believe they aren't even considering a simulcast - surely they're just keeping it under wraps for now?.

Toei most likely wants money off from Toonami. I think having Kai and Super back to back with each other would lead to big ratings on Toonami.

Funi is likely just as clueless as we are. Toei's playing with our emotions while reading old Toyble manga to derive plots from.

I read about the series director for Super working on an upcoming World Trigger episode; is World Trigger that popular where Toei would toss him back over there for an episode like this or is this just a case of Toei being Toei?

I'm not surprise if we had to wait until next year for Super to come out in the US. Kai came out a year after it aired in Japan. I think Funimation wants to have all of the episodes ready to be dubbed. Simulcast sub may not work since most fans in the US prefer the show dubbed over subbed.

I don't think that will be a problem. To be honest, the most people who would watch DB Super would be from the Latin America market. LA brought in about half of what BoG earned in Japan. It was the biggest grossing anime film of all time (( OF ALL TIME 8) )) in our countries. Even when people are stingy about getting our original Mexican VA cast to dub it, if Toei gives us an official Spanish subtitled online version, we will watch that first. There's no question about that.
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"

It has been getting some good staff lately, like Shikama Takahiro. It's also been the brunt of a lack of resources, what with having to use clips from episodes for its second Opening for a few episodes. I figure this is all the result of abhorrent scheduling.

I can chock this up to Toei being Toei then.
Super is such a mystery right now...

One Piece, Dragon Ball Super, PreCure, and World Trigger are currently running weekly. Robot Girls Z releases one six minute episode a month, Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal and Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold are currently twice a month. I don't believe there are any new Toei Animation films scheduled for the rest of 2015. With Disk Wars: Avengers and Majin Bone having ended in winter their staff has mostly moved on to other series, other than Oonishi Ryou who doesn't seem to be doing anything now. With any luck Oonishi has been working on Dragon Ball Super since April.

It's not quite a fair comparison given the US only had the movie running in a limited run (both in days and in locations). A larger run could have done better (I wonder how many casual old DBZ fans might have gone to see it had it been more readily available). It was still the 11th biggest grossing anime film here despite the short run.

FUNimation simulcasts far more unknown anime than Dragon Ball Z, so I don't see them not parting the Pacific if need be to get Super. It can only mean money for them (and FUNi loves money). Plus, even with preferences, you know people are going to want to watch brand new DBZ as soon as humanly possible.

FUNi's main draw on Kai was the new dub so I can see why that didn't get simulcasted (If I wanted to watch Dragon Ball Z in Japanese, I'd watch my Dragon Boxes). But Super? Absolutely no reason on FUNi's end not to get it. Now, Toei might be an obstacle, but I can't see them being opposed to more money either (which is also why I doubt Super will end quickly unless it flops, Toei will find a way to milk a gold mine until it's dry).

You don't think Toei'd try to stream Super themselves, do you? Wouldn't it be more beneficial to them to partner with Funi when it comes to a subbed stream?

There's Digimon Adventure tri.'s first OVA in November, but that may be close to finished. And aren't there rumors of a new One Piece movie?

In all honesty, Toei's holding out on this because they have to make sure that Super's absolutely perfect. Unlike series like Yu-Gi-Oh! or Saint Seiya, This is the first sequel DB's gotten in damn-near 20 years. Not to mention Dragon Ball is their biggest cash cow next to OP. Right now is their moment to make DB surpass OP, and after the bar set by BoG and RoF, they can't afford to muck things up like GT. They've probably been going through various storyboards, plots, and characters to make sure that it's going to be utterly flawless. The first episode is going to have the most views in recent anime history. They have to make sure that the fans are gonna be satisfied.

Just a "big announcement" this month.
