If Bergamo is using underhanded tactics like this, he most likely is losing.

Either that or he's trying to preemptively win before the fight even starts by having this condition brought up. His brothers losing would definitely give him pause about his own ability to win, especially since he acknowledged that Goku's a cut above Gohan or Boo.

Around the 8 minute mark of last episode when Goku goads Basil into using his true power so Boo will fight harder, U9 Kaioshin thinks he's got a big mouth but Bergamo says that Goku's right, that Basil is holding back and states Goku's got some potential in him.

Funny thought....Goku cannot forfeit the match. The present Omni-King knows how strong Goku is.

If he tries to loose the fight on purposes the Omni-Kings will erase him, his team and possibly team U9 to!

Actually what if the reason Toppo intervenes is because Bergamo is about to kill Goku... As we saw last episode by the sounds of it he won't be afraid to be lethal. Toppo is basically a super hero type character so this scenario could work too.

Man so many ways this can play out. Wasn't expecting the preliminaries to be this interesting!

That's true, I guess I remembered it wrong. But still, if his brothers both lose and Goku shows off he's a genuine threat too, Bergamo could very easily try this to secure victory by trying to appeal to everyone's sense of self-preservation by giving them a way out if Goku loses.

The Grand Priest wouldn't allow any interference, he seems to be focused on having these matches continue. Didn't you see the look he gave Beerus?

I'm willing to bet either Toppo or the guy Goku fights throughout the opening will easily beat a guy like Hit just to show how strong the new guys are.

Dragonball is notorious for having a former strong badass get their ass kicked in favor of showcasing the new sheriff in town.

Maybe Bergamo is almost beaten and goku had decided to forfeit when that time comes..
Not knowing this toppo decides to jump in to lecture goku about him trying to win and this gets Bergamo eliminated..
This way it would be the supposed hero's fault for trying to be heroic at the wrong time..

He was mad at Beerus because Beerus was ruining the fun both Zenos were having watching Buu vs Basil.

The whole point of these exhibition matches are to entertain the Zenos, Zeno Rules means anything goes, so Toppo running in should make sense because it was Zeno himself that wanted the matches to have no rules according to Daishinkan.

Herms said the kanji used is that Toppo bursts out midway in the battle, like how a new challenger appears while your fighting in an arcade. Thats why I was curious as to how Zeno and GP will take it.

No, I've got a strong feeling he's much stronger then most people think and his copy cat ability should be interesting.

Then again he probably wouldn't resort to a plan like this if he was just flat out stronger than Goku.

That doesn't make sense, the Zen-Oh want a good match. So Goku not throwing the match is what they want, I don't see how Toppo smacking sense into Goku is going to please them at all, if anything they're gonna be pissed and probably erase him for intervening.

I am more shocked than freaked out, this wasn't the direction I hoped this franchise to go..
We know what the twist will be, the very name of this arc is universe survival arc..
Now all that's left is for goku to maturely Handel this, which I am not very sure on looking at super's history..

In this arc they've already emphasized Goku's selfish nature and had characters berate Goku for what's happening and now it looks like the rest of the multiverse is going to be turned against Goku. I don't see this story playing out without Goku realizing how selfish he is, be it after his win against Universe 9 or later in the arc.

Goku knows that he can be selfish. He said so himself. He just doesn't really care.
