I'm not that suprised.
Everyone who's seen some his work knows he traces a lot.
And he admitted it as wel in the comment section on the Multiverse site I believe.

But then I ask myself why he even accepted or offered doing this in the first place.
People have asked me to help with there project in the past, but I know my skills well enough to thank them for the offer.
Because my "best" work has been traced for most parts so I know I'd suck at drawing backgrounds and original content.

The fact that he stopped at DA suprised me at first, but now I can't help but to think this has something to do with it.

Some thinner lines and some more accurate shading along with details would have been nice. The art itself isn't bad, it's just poorly executed, almost as if he was in a hurry.

He's got a point. This is a free-fanservice we're getting here. It's one thing to critique the work we're getting, but some people are just ragging on it.

The artwork isn't even that bad. I just think the lines are a little too thick.

I have no opinion on the artwork, I don't even read this thing but that whole "ID LYK 2 SEE U DO IT!" argument is bullshit. You don't need to be able to do something yourself to notice a lack of quality, talent and/or expertise. Just because I can't program video games doesn't mean "Big Rigs" isn't an awful game. Just because I can't compose music doesn't mean Souja Boy is a rap master so on and so fourth. He's not the one claiming he can draw this comic well. He didn't apply for an artist position on staff. Ya dig?

If the entire point of your post is just to bash something, not to offer any kind of constructive input, then you had best be able to do something 10x better. And your analogies do not work because those are professional products, no amateur ones, which means constructive input is either impossible or a wasted effort.

That's not how life works I'm sorry. You can still notice poor quality products even if they are amateur without being an expert. For example I can't draw but I know the amateur webcomic Sonichu is complete trash. I can't compose music but I know this this highly offensive mess is awful sounding.

No I don't agree with just sitting there and dedicating an entire post to bashing someone else's work without giving criticism to help them improve. That doesn't mean you need to make something 10x better it means you need to grow up.

I guess I have the right to criticize the art then? :P
ImageImage[/shameless plug]

Either he doesn't know about proportions, or he just vectored it all off from the top of his head in 30 minutes. I sketched, drew the line art, and shaded that panel in 40 minutes, without copying official art and only looking at the original as a reference for the pose.

It looks extremely rushed, and perhaps if he hadn't rushed it, then it might have looked okay.

Wow that's fantastic Metalwario! Very well done. Did you ever think of starting your own fan manga?

My input on this whole argument is: "Critics are like eunuchs in a harem. They know how they do it, they've seen how they do it, but they have never done it themselves."
You can be a critic without having ever drawn. Just look at people who know art and paintings. Many times they can't paint themselves.

I don't think I can do better because I really suck at drawing, but that mess of lines is just horrible.

As an children comic book illustrator and "grown up art" comic penciler, so let me give this critique thing on the recent page a shot: DON'T TRACE, Don't use vector lines if you can't use them to get the pen nib effect that is obviously needed to draw a manga. Learn basic perspective, DON'T TRACE, use references if needed but DON'T COPY THEM! Learn to draw different types of backgrounds and settings, in this case use a decrepit land scape as your setting since it is after all Dr. Gero lab from the manga. And once again...

DON'T TRACE,
DON'T COPY,
TAKE YOUR TIME WHEN DRAW A PAGE AND DON'T PULL A RUSH JOB!

Unless you have a looming deadline over your head, like I sometimes do, then by all means rush. But try to keep the quailty of you art to at least decent looking. But hey I'm no Da Vinci but I can at least give my two cents.

Did I say that you can't tell if something's low quality? Nope. I said you can't just sit there and bash it without offering any constructive input. The two things are completely unrelated.

Yeah...no you didn't you said in order to criticize work you need to make something 10x better. Which isn't true even if you can't produce something 10x better you can still criticize someones work because you notice a low quality product.

You know, all this time I was thinking about the art and I forgot about the story. Usually the fangirl inside drools anytime Trunks is shows up in this fanmanga. I was just distracted this week. But now... OH YEAH! Future Trunks is in da house yal! Cream pies for everyone!

Xyex's point is that you're not criticising, you're attacking. If it's bad, why was it bad? What would you have done or at least prefer to have seen done differently? That's criticism.

I'm fully aware of the point and I agree but it's the phrasing that's stupid. Xeyx didn't flat out say that. He claimed you need to be able to do better to be able to criticize peoples work which is just a point Devientarts use to stop any and all criticism on their work.

Well, I guess he's looking for a new friend. I have to wonder if the next match will be a #16 match, but against who...?

Ugh, his face is randomly stretched in the center panel and the backgrounds look like they. The tracings look a bit better this time, but it's annoying how there is no flow to the panels, it looks like a bunch of cool poses were tossed in, and I cannot tell what is happening. If he saw #16 to his left, then why is he towards his right in the next panel?
