JulieYBM wrote:It's not unfair. Rifftracks are an original product separate from the original. If it's legal to charge money for a movie review it seems perfectly legal to charge money for an audio review written in parody prose/structure/whathaveyou.
Now,
personally I don't want to spend the money buying said Rifftrack, but that's...well, personal.

If you put it that way, than alright, I take it back.
I would not want to spend my money on it either. I'd rather buy food with that money.

Oh, c'mon! It's a buck and a half! What more do you want? It's still cheaper than a McDonald's Happy Meal!

I wouldn't call it "unfair." It's something we worked on, put effort into, spent time on.
Now, if you have no interest in it, then fine. We certainly aren't going to be upset if you don't want to buy it because of lack of interest or if you really, honestly don't have the excess cash to spend on the Riff. But calling it "unfair" to be paid for something we worked on and are legally distributing?
If it's because we have no affiliation with the production itself, then you might as well say anyone who's ever made money off a direct parody or critique of something are "unfair" too. All those parody movies that criticize films, all those MSTK3s. It's not "unfair", it's not immoral or illegal. We put out a parody commentary track that people can purchase and watch aside the movie. It's all fair.
As for the phrasing of my comment, I stand by it. Saying that $1.50 is too much boggles my mind. Again, I'm not saying you SHOULD purchase it, one way or the other. I'm saying that bringing up the price as a point on contention is absolutely ridiculous to me. Especially anyone saying that having to purchase it and the movie is "too much". The movie runs for about $15 bucks retail, though you can find it around $9 for sale online in most places. If the extra $1.50 is such a big deal, I'm wondering how you could afford the movie to begin with.
So, ultimately, sorry if I'm coming off as "brash" or "abrasive". I just find the issues people are taking with our distribution of the product to be invalid.
Also, for those who don't enjoy the preview, the rest of it is on par and better than that. We had a lot of fun with it and it was also Lanipator's pet project. He'd been wanting to do a Rifftrack for a long time. He's really proud of it and I do hope people will give it a chance.

Don't worry bro, I said I took what I originally said back.

Wouldn't it be Dragon Ball Evolution that costs more? Why is the track outrageous?

So I guess we can call the Rifftrax "Mystery Saiyan's Theater 3000"? (Japanese pronunciation for Saiayn's)

I... don't think you understand how RiffTrax work. It's not like the commentary track is downloaded into the disc, you just play it alongside the movie. There's a little guide at the start of them to make sure you've cued the movie up with the commentary properly.

That Rifftrack was HILARIOUS! The only thing is that I wish you guys would have talked more so that I would hear the movie less. I had a hard time watching it with the rifftrack though since I was listening to it with a DVDrip of the movie. (I know we're not aloud to talk about bootlegs here, but seriously, there's no way I'm spending money on this movie.) It kept unsyncing. Nothing wrong on your part. This just means I may have to shell out a few bucks to buy this movie just to hear you guys talk over it.

And now for something totally unrelated: Have you guys ever thought of releasing the tenth episode in a single video instead of a three parter?

I'd rather have every single episode combined into one video, but someone has already done that for Season 1.

Well, episodes have got openings, endings, outros, stuff like that, Episode 10 was divided into three parts back then, but there's no real reason for it to be. There are also the deleted scenes which could be incorporated back into the episodes I think.
Despite all that, that Season 1 video sounds interesting, can you link it please?

Voila!
Personally, I'd love to see them re-do episode #10 now that they have better footage and mics.

And I say keep it as it is, since it shows progress over how far they've come.
