I bet you any money Chris won't need any gimmicky filters when Freeza transforms. He'll alter his voice appropriately though his natural talent alone. Picture that voice in his true form, only slightly deeper, I'm having a fan-gas-am at the thought.

I'd appreciate it too because it doesn't show up for me for some reason. :?
Same that's weird. Considering we both live in the US. I though it blocked off only non-US users?
Yep, strange. Other Nicktoons videos work for me.

The video won't show up for me either... and everything else does though...

But if he does indeed sound much different/better, then perhaps the people who suggested he started out with that voice to make Linda Young's performance in episode 1 seem less inconsistent were correct.

His voice is good but still can't be compared to Ryusei Nakao.

I just don't get it. The video just won't even show up, and I've even tried it in different browsers...

It's not working for me either.
Every other video works, even the episode 22 preview(no Freeza in it).
Edit: It works fine now. Sounds nice, I especially like the laugh.

I works for me now. I recorded the video and put the audio on my microphone so it won't be perfect quality; but, you want me to still put it up?

Still to early to tell, but Chris certainly had moments! The full episode 20 will be up on Nicktoons site soon, I cannot wait!

Currently watching the newest episode on NickToons. Ugh, they used "Frieza" in the title card. But Freeza's voice sounds less like Pauline Newstone now, I quite like it.

Watching it now, it does indeed sound like we were right, his voice in this episode was VERY different, it does NOT sound like a Newstone impression anymore, it actually sounds quite masculine. That was great!

And Gotta Love J. Michael Tatum as Zarbon XD

After watching that preview of episode 21 with Freeza in it, I can say for certain that the voice is almost exactly the same as Ocean's Pauline Newstone. The tone and style are so similar, in fact if I didn't know otherwise, I could've sworn that it really is Pauline Newstone. It's even closer than what we heard at the end of episode 19. But that works out rather well. It is sinister and somewhat creepy, like Newstone's.

For those who cannot watch the preview, this is what Freeza says:

" The natives here are frustratingly willful, but if they wish to fall defending each other I'm happy to oblige them, young and old alike."

Gaffer Tape wrote:I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. When I listen to Dobson's Zarbon, I hear the rounder vowels and more open delivery of certain Australian dialects. It does not sound British to me.
OK, but I hear Dobson's Zarbon as closer to a British dialect that Australian. Certain vowels, namely a and o, are actually very close in British and Australian pronounciation, but where they differ is with e and some stretching of words. Steve Irwin had an Australian dialect, I cannot hear that type of dialect with Paul Dobson's Zarbon. I'm not saying its proper British but I see it as closer to British.

While Ayres's performance is very good and different from Newstone's, the voice itself keeps sounding like Newstone to me. I'm watching it now and I can't shake the feeling.

Watching the new episode on Nicktoons now. I like it. He sounds nothing like Linda, and the similarity to Ocean's Freeza isn't as noticeable when he has longer lines of dialogue. The acting is what counts here, and it's very good, and comes off sinister and creepy. He sounds like a man, though obviously more feminine than Nakao, I think it works. The voice will have to be altered for his transformations, but since we're dealing with a male actor this time I'm sure that will be handled fine - the problem would be keeping this exact same voice for final form Freeza, and I'm assuming FUNi knows enough to have that naturally change. I'm liking it so far. Admittedly such a similar voice to the way Freeza has been cast in the past was not what I was expecting when this was announced, but I went into Kai expecting Linda and this is a very pleasant surprise as far as I'm concerned...I think he's doing a good job so far and look forward to seeing where he takes the role.

Now if only they'd ditch the horrendous Frieza spelling...

Also liking Zarbon and Dodoria's new voices, though this isn't the topic for that.

Here's the video for people who can't access it. The audio isn't 100% quality though.

Definitely more Nakao-like not 100% there. But, I'm glad it's no longer Pauline Newstone v.2. Hah, Penguintruth was right it's kinda like DBZ Abridged. In the fact that the voice progressively changes.

Nope. Freeza still sounds exactly as I expected him to from his one line on Thursday. I waited it out just like a lot of you asked and I still heard the same thing. On the other hand, my prediction that the acting and script would be really good came true and that makes up for it!

Overall, I don't actually like the voice, but it'll probably grow on me. I definitely prefer the Abridged version (which doesn't really sound like Ayres at all excet for in attitude) but I can live with this. It's like a less raspy Newstone.

Zarbon. on the other hand, rocks!
