Again, she said that that statement had popped out of her mouth in her grief at Daisuke Gouri's funeral, and it's not her real decision. Recording the voices separately does increase the chance of her returning as Videl because in that case, she can record her lines alone whenever she's able to briefly come back to Japan.sangofe wrote:Why does it increase the chance of Minagawa returning as Videl? It also says that they're recording voices separately, which increases the chance that Minagawa returns as Videl.

Nice to see Mitsuya returning, but I wish they were recording together.kei17 wrote:Toshio Furukawa's official site semi-confirms that Yuji Mitsuya is back as Kaioshin. I do hope they're able to get her back, Yuko Minaguchi is one of my favorite actresses in the Japanese version, right up there with Mayumi Tanaka.

I thought that voice recording in Japan was normally done seperately. I know in the US, there's only a handful of cartoons that do the "radio-show" style of recoding, Batman:TAS and the Simpsons being the two most famous.
Re: Kai Continues Outside Japan
Nope, traditionally they all record together (speaking of Furukawa Toshio). Kanzenshuu also has translated interviews with the actors who talk about recording together, to say nothing of the other glimpses into the recording booth floating around out there.LiamKav wrote:I thought that voice recording in Japan was normally done seperately. Have we heard any word on the cast for the Boo saga.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I hope that Toei reanimates Goku's reintroduction at the tournament, for the sake of excising his hug with Goten there. It's a lot more poignant when he does it later on.

Re: Kai Continues Outside Japan
This seems like the best place to ask this actually, since I haven't gotten to the Cell Games material in Kai subbed yet, and it'd be the same actor playing him still in the Boo material as well as Battle of Gods - but how is the replacement Mr. Satan? I doubt he can hold a candle to Gouri's work, but is he at least a pretty good choice for the role?

He was perfectly serviceable. It's just... he's not Gori.Gyt Kaliba wrote:This seems like the best place to ask this actually, since I haven't gotten to the Cell Games material in Kai subbed yet, and it'd be the same actor playing him still in the Boo material as well as Battle of Gods - but how is the replacement Mr. Satan? Re: Kai Continues Outside Japan
Yeah, I can understand that. Gouri (or is it actually Gori? I've been going off of ANN's spelling of his name) is one of my favorite actors in the show too, so to imagine anyone but him playing Mr. Satan is hard for me. I'm glad to know they got a good replacement though.VegettoEX wrote:He was perfectly serviceable. It's just... he's not Gori.

It's a long-"o" sound. You can do it "Gōri" or "Gouri" or just drop it and do "Gori".

Re: Kai Continues Outside Japan
Thanks VegettoEX, I guess I'll keep using Gouri then since that's what I'm used to and it's not incorrect.
I'm wondering if there will be any other replacements to speak of in this arc of Kai, on the Japanese side I mean.

The Elder Kaiou'shin will have a new voice (I believe he got one in Ultimate Blast, so that might carry over).Gyt Kaliba wrote:I'm wondering if there will be any other replacements to speak of in this arc of Kai, on the Japanese side I mean.

Say what other JPN shows had content made for international versions aside from this, Sonic X and Yu Gi Oh Capsule Monsters?

The Big O and Kinnikuman Nisei (Ultimate Muscle in the States) come to mind.matt0044 wrote:Say what other JPN shows had content made for international versions aside from this, Sonic X and Yu Gi Oh Capsule Monsters?

Though I know it won't happen I still want Gohan to sound different then Goku when older. I notice some difference when they are talking, but when Gohan yells and fights, he sounds the exact same as Goku.

Nozawa already has so many voices (and variations) to keep track of, I think a slip up now and then can be forgiven.

That's the thing, though, she shouldn't have to keep track of so many distinct variations.
