This is Solar Sonic from the Archie Comics, it existed well before SSJ God.

To bad it's damn near nothing like it.

Well the only similarities between Super Sonic and SSJ are the gold hair and aura. SSJ God has red hair and flame-like aura. Solar Sonic has red hair and a flame-like aura too. Sooooooooooooooo by that logic they are just as similar as Super is to SSJ.

So did Kaioken.

You're gonna have to excuse me, but I don't think SSJ God or Solar Sonic looks anything like Kaioken. Kaioken is just a red glow, not an altering of one's hair color.

You think that's a huge difference? They still look very similar, just like SSJG looks similar to Kaioken. Sure they are not identical, but since its a franchise who has ripped off many ideas from dragon ball, I won't hesitate in stating that anything that its similar could have also been influenced by Dragon Ball.

Well if we made a direct comparison, you'd find they are nothing alike, other than the fact they are synonymous with red:


Hair Color:
SSJ God = Red / Kaioken = Black w/ a purple-ish tint thanks to the lighting of the aura.
Eye Color:
SSJ God = Red w/ black pupils / Kaioken = black w/ pink light reflecting off them thanks to the aura
Aura Color and Style :
SSJ God = Orange w/ a flame like style / Kaioken = White and glows red in the manga. Red in the anime. It's styled like any aura.

Solar Sonic also has an increase in power. He can manipulate fire AND is as strong as Super Sonic. Honestly, the only similarities SSJ and Super have are the hair color and aura, which Solar Sonic matches with SSJ God. It's obvious SSJ God didn't draw from this, but they are similar.

Nothing alike is something like comparing SSJ with SSJ4 or Kaioken. Now THAT's nothing alike. Instead you are arguing that they are nothing alike because we can actually notice differences between them... To me that's how I would define similar: things who resemble each other but that have differences. That fits SSJG and Kaioken and also that form of Sonic considering its tendency for using Dragon Ball for inspiration.

Sure, they aren't absolutely identical, but was I even arguing that they were absolutely identical in the first place...? I just pointed out that they are similar in appearance, which is rather obvious since they are all just different takes on the user acquiring a red force/aura thing around him that makes him look or even actually turns him red and makes him more powerful.

Also, if you really want to compare Kaioken, then do so using the images drawn and colored by Toriyama himself:



In them, the glow from Kaioken turns Goku's hair into a red tone and its not a question of being a limited color chapter since Goku's hair is black and the color black is abundant in the chapter, including in Goku's hair when he is not in Kaioken. Its noticeable that Goku's hair doesn't actually turn red like in SSJG, but it looks red all the same while using the technique.

In this regard, the anime was actually more faithful to Toriyama's original color scheme than the full colored manga:

Both KK and SSG are red (whatever shade) versions of base Goku. How is that not a resemblance?

Having somewhat different shades of red or having the eyes somewhat different or having the hair actually turn red instead of just glowing red or whatever are just details that make them not identical, but the resemblance is still there, unless you use another definition of resemblance and similar that I'm not aware of.

Goku's hair is back. Black is a color used in the limited color pages. Toriyama was free to combine the color red and black however he felt like in that chapter since he used both in the chapter, including to color Goku's hair as black whenever he wasn't using Kaioken. So no, I'm afraid you are incorrect.

In fact, here's a page from that same chapter:



As you can see, there's absolutely no problem in coloring Goku's hair as black.

And if you really want to go with the anime:



Its basically the same thing, with just more shadow.

As for the full colored manga:



I think the anime was more faithful to Toriyama's original colors than the full colored manga in this instance since the use of red is much less noticeable. Therefore, I consider the anime more correct than the full colored manga regarding Kaioken.

However, in none of these three I see any purple in Goku's hair. Just red and different combinations of the use of red and black. And Toriyama had full use of those colors in that page.
