Oh wow, it really does.

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

That's precisely why ordinary men pursue the concept of perfection, it's infatuation. If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Scientist's agonize over the attempt to achieve perfection! That's the kind of creatures we are! We take joy in trying to exceed our grasp, in trying to reach for something that in the end, we have to admit may in fact be unreachable!"

Man, Nishio is going to be in Barcelona? I wish the guy was more active in the convention scene. I can only imagine the stories he has to tell.
Re: One Hour Toriko/One Piece/DBZ crossover to Air April 7
Why does it feel like this never happens in the US? Or maybe just not anywhere near me. We seem to get a slew of actors, but how often do directors/writers/animators get over here? I don't even know what I would ask Nishio if I got the chance to go to this.Dragon Ball Z series director Daisuke Nishio will also attend the fair this year to meet with his fans in Barcelona.

It seems like most other countries that had dubs were a lot more faithful and gave a lot more attention to the Japanese version. Thus, you get increased familiarity and demand. Unfortunately, I don't think even a very small percentage of average American DB fans would know who Nishio is.B wrote:Why does it feel like this never happens in the US? When this gets dubbed in English, I have a feeling there could be bloopers of Luffy wondering if Toriko is familiar due to recent news.

Are they referring to these crossover episodes, or just the individual brands being a focus of their presence at this convention?TheRed259 wrote:http://www.toei-animation.com/en/node/1328

Why was this never dubbed 2 years later?

Re: One Hour Toriko/One Piece/DBZ crossover to Air April 7
Most likely due to rights issues, and a lack of interest for the most part. Sure, you could assume it's mostly just Shonen Jump/Shueisha and Toei that FUNimation would have to deal with to get this, but there could easily be other parties involved that could hold it up to. And for what it's worth, FUNi has never gotten the previous One Piece/Toriko crossovers either.
The other factor would likely be that FUNi has seemingly dropped Toriko entirely. We never got past the first 50 episodes released here, and the last set they released for it (which was a larger set collecting two previous smaller ones) came out in November of last year*. That's not nearly as long as we've gone without additional episodes of other things FUNi seemed unsure about getting more of (like Shin-chan, Sgt. Frog, or Detective Conan), but still doesn't really bode super well.
Looking a little further back into the thread though, I don't think I ever went back and re-watched this after actually reading through Toriko. I need to do so eventually and see if I get much more out of it now that I'm familiar with all three series.
*Ack, for last year I guess I should specify 2014, given what's about to happen in a few hours and may have already happened depending on where you are.

I wished this would have got released in the US and I wished Funimation would have finished dubbing Toriko. I bought all the DVDs and had to watch a lot of rest subbed. Had I never seen this special I would have never gotten into Toriko.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Crunchyroll does have the crossovers between One Piece and Toriko, simply not the three-franchise crossover.

Except that the Spanish spain dub never was faithul at all. It was based on the french AB dub.Dalesy wrote:It seems like most other countries that had dubs were a lot more faithful and gave a lot more attention to the Japanese version. Sort of? It was dubbed from Japanese for DB 1-25, then from French for DB 26 through DBZ 103, then Japanese again for DBZ 104 halfway through the Cell arc, then French again from then on. It's a convoluted mess.

Oh really? I'll admit I haven't seen much clips from 105 to mid Cell saga...Puto wrote:Sort of? It was dubbed from Japanese for DB 1-25, then from French for DB 26 through DBZ 103, then Japanese again for DBZ 104 halfway through the Cell arc, then French again from then on. It's a convoluted mess.
