I didn't know that Curious George was still a thing. They did made a anime of it over there?

I think they literally mean "Curious George" the cartoon made in the US.

The show needs to hurry up and introduce Champa. I really don't know what's going on with that. He's appeared in the manga during the events of the Battle of Gods saga. If people are bored or uninterested because it's just more of the same then they're a fool for not putting him in it because that could have helped the ratings if there was something new if it was only a little.

The Resurrection F movie is only a couple months old so will that hurt ratings more because they've only just seen it or will the ratings improve because it's still new and there may have people who haven't seen it yet?

I wouldn't saying it's ratings have been anything special for now but it's understandable in a way.

I think the ratings will stay where they are for the next two episodes, I doubt people will tune in for the fight against Beerus. If they saw episode five, they learned their lesson.
Enter episode thirteen, we will definitely see a raise: those who gave themselves a break after the first few episodes, other by buzz from those who will be watching the FnF arc. If the show maintains these people, depends how they handle the second retelling.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I feel ANN has had a couple of typos, there -- if DBS was 6.1. and YW was 4.4, the order is wrong. The original 5.4 and 5.1 make more sense.

source:

http://www.videor.co.jp/data/ratedata/top10.htm (same one ANN claims to use).

More than a couple typos the whole list is off. The order is all out of place and the numbers don't match up at all.

Why do you guys think Dragonball's ratings are low? Its literally doing better than everything except family anime, One Piece, and Detective Conan.

The Pokemon anime doesn't even make the top 10 in Japan anymore, and the show is still going. Pokemon used to have ratings in the 8's and 9's....now it barely makes the 3's but the show keeps going.

I think its because of the retelling of the movies. If Super will be cancelled due to low ratings, then its Toei's fault for retelling the movies and combining it with horrible animation.

Similar worries here. I'm worried that the number of viewers will drop and the merch won't sell enough and Toei won't consider the fact that it'd be because the first two arcs are just redos of the movies and so won't be able to tell Uni 6 properly/we won't get any more arcs after Uni 6.

I don't wanna see it cancelled mid-way through a redo of F and then have them rush Uni 6 along all awkward after dragging through reBOG and reF.

I could be wrong though; maybe everything will work out ok. Or it won't. Who knows. @_@

If they make the SSG Goku vs. Beerus fight better than the movie combined with great animation, shows SSG Vegeta,Freeza's Training and all other things that Resurrection 'F' missed.People would surely like it and the rating would rise.

You didn't understand the question, precita meant they are not actually low, as anyone who keeps up with anime ratings knows.

But to answer the question, that's because some people had unrealistic expectations that it would be the hot #1 thing, which was impossible, starting with its timeslot. Also, there are things that never left tv, and as such are bigger than DB at this time. DB is well known and loved, but it just came back to the spotlight.
But i actually think a handful of fans believe those 10 shows are everything airing in Japan right now, so being #7 or #8 is low, without realizing being in the top 10 is great by itself. Poor Naruto, Pokemon, Fairy Tail and the likes, should've been cancelled long ago.

Unfortunately, since a few years ago, we don't get the ratings of every anime anymore, just the ones that make the top 10. Seeing huge anime franchises getting 2s on a regular basis would give everyone a better idea.

Believe me, anime ratings often make no sense. They can be very surprising, going up and down without any logical reason, like a couple of filler episodes ranking very high, then the week after that a major canon episode airs and it does much worse. There's no sense of "ok, this will be very important, people will tune in and ratings will go through the roof for sure".
Even in its short run Super saw that happening already, when the DVR rank suddenly went from #6 to #1 then dropped again.

That said, if episode 5 affected anything, it would happen right to the next couple of episodes, instead of being about the content.

I'm getting the same feeling that I got for Kai. Most people in "eh" about it because it's literally something they saw before.

Dragon Ball Super isn't going to be canceled because of 'low' ratings. Whatever Fuji TV and Toei Animation could ever possibly try to replace it with at this juncture wouldn't have the merchandising power and eventual international presence to make back profit. Bandai sure as hell doesn't want the series to end, not with the gears in motion to get the gravy train moving again.

And just last week Super had its worst placement in terms of DVR numbers. Now look at it. :P

Super is gonna be one hell of an emotional roller coaster. And I'm gonna love every moment of it. :)

I know what the percentages of the live ratings mean, but what do the numbers that are associated with the DVR ratings mean?

Everyone's number in the ranking is the ratio they have, in comparison with first place, Super in this case. For example, Yokai Watch is second with 97.9 of Super's total.
