The Real Saiyan Showdown!
... And I hope the decision isn't made for 'home-made' music...
How would you define "home-made?" Of course, we're not going to go putting death metal bands or anything in there, a-la FUNimation's movie 4 and 5. I just think we should be a little more creative than just using the original Japanese BGM.Steven Perry wrote:... And I hope the decision isn't made for 'home-made' music...
This is a pretty dicey statement considering one of the key elements to making a 'good' dub is to actually keep the original BGM, unless in the rare instance where you can do better which considering what it is, how long its been around etc, and the budget you're working from, you're really not going to be able to do that.SSj Kaboom wrote: I just think we should be a little more creative than just using the original Japanese BGM.
No, don't use other music than the original!SSj Kaboom wrote:How would you define "home-made?" Honestly, megauploads seems to be a pain in the butt. It keeps redirecting me to ads when I'm trying to download stuff. If you're just trying to download other people's stuff, then just keep skipping the ads and hitting "back" if you need to. If you're trying to upload your stuff, then I'd suggest something less anti-user like RapidShare or especially FileFront[/i].future_trunks wrote:I didn't want to put this in the auditions thread becasue it's not an audition, but How the HELL (we don't use that word here, sonny) does Megauploads work? I keep trying to see other downloads and it's really confusing
Keeping the Japanese BGM fully intact shouldn't even be considered; it will take away a large portion of the uniqueness, which was the whole point of this project to begin with (and having fun, I guesssangofe wrote:No, don't use other music than the original!SSj Kaboom wrote:I just think we should be a little more creative than just using the original Japanese BGM.
It's not a case of being Japanese or thinking Japan is the greatest (I am not really fond of the place, myself), it's just that leaving in the original music is probably a good idea because, to begin with, it was considered and placed in appropriatly, and are we honestly going to do any better? Ain't broke, don't fix it.Steven Perry wrote:Keeping the Japanese BGM fully intact shouldn't even be considered; it will take away a large portion of the uniqueness, which was the whole point of this project to begin with (and having fun, I guesssangofe wrote:No, don't use other music than the original!SSj Kaboom wrote:I just think we should be a little more creative than just using the original Japanese BGM.). What's more, there'll be less of a feeling of achievement after we've completed it. The idea is just so lazy-ass... if we're not going to personalise it in terms of the music, we might as well just leave all sound effects intact. Heck, we might as well just forget about dubbing it, so we can get it as 'close to the original as possible'.

Uh-oh...
With all this talk about Japan and its greatness at DaizenshuuEX, I think I'm turning Japanese...

Exactly my reasoning. We're not making some professional release; we're doing this dub for own own entertainment. So why not personalize it a bit? We're already sticking close to the original by not straying far in terms of dialogue. BGM should be one of the more unique things.Steven Perry wrote:Keeping the Japanese BGM fully intact shouldn't even be considered; it will take away a large portion of the uniqueness, which was the whole point of this project to begin with (and having fun, I guesssangofe wrote:No, don't use other music than the original!SSj Kaboom wrote:I just think we should be a little more creative than just using the original Japanese BGM.). Regarding the ending themes, I think it should just be left in. Cha-La Head Cha-La could replaced with that Jungle Remix or the 2005 version, or like somebody said, it could be sung by one of us.The thing is, one of the biggest problems that people had with the FUNi dub was that they did NOT keep the original music, and since our idea was to create a better dub it would make sense for us to use the original music. But that's just my opinion. I know that doesn't leave much room for creativity in that department, but I guess we could still mess with the themes a little in terms of getting someone to sing it or using a different version. Come to think of it, what about Marugoto? Finding a karaoke version of that is probably not easy or maybe even not possible...
No. What happened to it?Little Lemmy's good at that sort of thing (remember his Drunk DaizEX poem?).
