Videl was established as a fighter, brave, strong and a main character alongside Gohan, Trunks and Goten.
No one is going to complain Mr. Satan is weak because he's nowhere near as serious as VIdel was as a martial artist.

True you are right, everyone that knows the truth about Mr Satan see him as a weak coward, who lied to make himself famous. He thinks he is too good to train, the wrong mentality to have.Kenji wrote: Fri Apr 17, 2026 7:18 pm The difference is that Mr. Satan was firmly established as weak, a fraud, a coward and a side gag character.

She's no ordinary human. That's factually incorrect. On a couple levels:super michael wrote: Fri Apr 17, 2026 7:00 pmThere is nothing wrong with Videl being weak compared to the Z fighters, when she is written to be a ordinary human who didn't do any special training.
Before Master Roshi trained Goku and Kuririn, in the manga when he see both Goku and Kuririn speed in running he says this:Majin Buu wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2026 7:36 amShe's no ordinary human. 1. She's the daughter of the "savior of the world", a celebrity- that fights crime as a side gig. Not an ordinary human.
2. She's a martial artist acknowledged in the story to be far stronger than her martial artist celebrity father- who's far more of an "ordinary human" as a martial artist than she ends up being due to...
3. Training with Gohan to learn how to use ki to eventually fly. Considering most normal humans on Earth seemingly have no clue about ki (not even her martial artist father, who's in a story where many martial artists are at least aware of its existence) , I'd call that "special training" by normal human standards.
4. The strongest thing she's shown doing is twisting Spopovich's neck 180 degrees with a full strength kick. Literal magic was the only reason Spopovich wasn't killed (and she's about to be disqualified because it initially looks like she straight up killed him).
It makes sense for your position that you're underselling the character in trying to defend how the story treats her.
