Alas there are others that think along the same lines as you!Super Sonic wrote:My bad. I didn't understand what the big deal was either, so I went to check out what the original Japanese intro logo looked like....... and it looks almost exactly the same. The new one just has sharper edges and the "GT" part is metal.

I think they do stuff like that to specifically piss off people on this forum. They know by now that it's the little stuff that really pisses people off.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

FUNimation, these days, neither knows nor cares about Daizenshuu EX anymore, I'm sure. They've got enough Poké-money to bother worrying about nerds on the interwebz.Chrono Trigger wrote:I think they do stuff like that to specifically piss off people on this forum. They're very similar in overall shape, sure. But the GT in the American logo is this rough metallic thing, and the thing features cracks and tears to look "awesome". Plus, it's this obviously digitally-produced thing that I don't think really fits.SSJ2bardock wrote:Alas there are others that think along the same lines as you!Super Sonic wrote:My bad. Also, it's the PRINCIPLE of the thing. It's not how it showed up on Japanese TV. And while by ITSELF it's probably something that can be ignored, it combines with other small issues. No alternate angles for Japanese title cards or credits, no next-episode previews. And when these changes WEREN'T part of the singles release, which is readily-available, it makes those a serious option.
It's the same thing with the movies. I have been avoiding the double features to purchase the movie singles, which you can now get for less than $5 and sometimes as low as $1-3 a pop.

I think people have an issue with this because it brings back bad memories of "YO YO MOTHA FUCKA GRAND TOUR G DAWG IN THE HIZZLE!" Personally I'm slightly irked because when I'm promised "uncensored" I don't really want anyone to touch the original footage but it's not like we constantly see the logo in the episodes themselves so I can deal.SSJ2bardock wrote: *Snip* [/URL]

Honestly the logo change isn't a big deal at all. It's still in the same spirit of the old one.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Exactly, it still looks like the old one, just "updated". I don't mind the logo change. Think about it, at least it's not calledVekurotto wrote:Honestly the logo change isn't a big deal at all. It's still in the same spirit of the old one.
"SUPER HARDCORE AWESOME SAIYAN SHOW [STARRING SOME PEPOPLE AND CHRIS SABAT!]" (I wonder if that could even fit on a TV screen?)

Please rip that. I really want to view that.Captain Awesome wrote:I've been thinking of ripping that from my dvd's, along with the complete GT rap video, it's actually got the "singer" or "rapper" in all of his sweaty and unintelligible glory.Tsukento wrote: Yeah, the old advertising campaign claiming we don't know GT.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Not to mention the Goku vs 17 montage... Yeah, it's pretty bad... I'm not sure if it's the actual original artist, but it definitely appears to be, the dvd player in my pc is on the fritz at the moment, so the best I can manage right now is a couple of screencaps.NeptuneKai wrote:Oh god I beg of you to do this. ..Now I've just got to find what DVD it's on.
But that's just the old campaign they had. That has nothing to do with the logo but more with the content in the show itself.Tsukento wrote:Yeah, the old advertising campaign claiming we don't know GT.Vekurotto wrote:Honestly the logo change isn't a big deal at all. Yes, PLEASE rip it. I have a nice idea for poking fun at FUNi's "You don't know GT!" line.Captain Awesome wrote:I've been thinking of ripping that from my dvd's, along with the complete GT rap video, it's actually got the "singer" or "rapper" in all of his sweaty and unintelligible glory.
I meant it was part of the whole idea that GT was "hardcore."Vekurotto wrote:But that's just the old campaign they had. That has nothing to do with the logo but more with the content in the show itself.
