Coming to Daizex has that effect on you.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

You realize you're posting on a forum with some of the biggest nerds on the planet, right?
My bad. I know I really can't really call folks nerds since I cosplay and sang the Pokemon theme along a group of energetic hyperactive fangirls, butwas thinking more of bigger ones a la Comic-Book Guy.
Alas there are others that think along the same lines as you!

I didn't understand what the big deal was either, so I went to check out what the original Japanese intro logo looked like....... and it looks almost exactly the same. The new one just has sharper edges and the "GT" part is metal.

I think they do stuff like that to specifically piss off people on this forum. They know by now that it's the little stuff that really pisses people off.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.

If it's held in your heart then you can't let go.

FUNimation, these days, neither knows nor cares about Daizenshuu EX anymore, I'm sure. They've got enough Poké-money to bother worrying about nerds on the interwebz.

They're very similar in overall shape, sure. But the GT in the American logo is this rough metallic thing, and the thing features cracks and tears to look "awesome". Plus, it's this obviously digitally-produced thing that I don't think really fits.

Also, it's the PRINCIPLE of the thing. It's not how it showed up on Japanese TV. And while by ITSELF it's probably something that can be ignored, it combines with other small issues. No alternate angles for Japanese title cards or credits, no next-episode previews. And when these changes WEREN'T part of the singles release, which is readily-available, it makes those a serious option.

It's the same thing with the movies. I have been avoiding the double features to purchase the movie singles, which you can now get for less than $5 and sometimes as low as $1-3 a pop.

I think people have an issue with this because it brings back bad memories of "YO YO MOTHA FUCKA GRAND TOUR G DAWG IN THE HIZZLE!" Personally I'm slightly irked because when I'm promised "uncensored" I don't really want anyone to touch the original footage but it's not like we constantly see the logo in the episodes themselves so I can deal.

I believe the logo is also in the eye-catchers though. Is it edited there too? I don't think anyone's said anything about that.

Nope, the logo is untouched in the eyecatchers.

Honestly the logo change isn't a big deal at all. It's still in the same spirit of the old one.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Exactly, it still looks like the old one, just "updated". I don't mind the logo change. Think about it, at least it's not called
"SUPER HARDCORE AWESOME SAIYAN SHOW [STARRING SOME PEPOPLE AND CHRIS SABAT!]" (I wonder if that could even fit on a TV screen?)

I've been thinking of ripping that from my dvd's, along with the complete GT rap video, it's actually got the "singer" or "rapper" in all of his sweaty and unintelligible glory.

Not to mention the Goku vs 17 montage... Yeah, it's pretty bad... Someone should really upload it!

I'm not sure if it's the actual original artist, but it definitely appears to be, the dvd player in my pc is on the fritz at the moment, so the best I can manage right now is a couple of screencaps.

..Now I've just got to find what DVD it's on.

But that's just the old campaign they had. That has nothing to do with the logo but more with the content in the show itself.

Yes, PLEASE rip it. I have a nice idea for poking fun at FUNi's "You don't know GT!" line.

I meant it was part of the whole idea that GT was "hardcore."

Remember, before GT premiered, there was a big "GT sucks" thought going around. I think that's why Funimation made a big deal about changing things back then.
