Super Animation Catalogue 2.0
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #60]
Is it just the scan quality or does Trunks have no pupils? A super rage mode, maybe?!
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I also have to wonder how much work Yashima will be doing considering he's supervising to episodes in a role. Surely he's not pulling a solo stunt for both of them? Or he just spreading how his work load across the two episodes and then everyone else puts in their shift? Probably the latter.

Not really, faces are thin, eyebrows have extreme curvature and Trunks' hair is very angular.Sodhi wrote:. Definitely looks like Kitano.
It's either Koji Nashizawa or an animator who's working on the episode

He really doesn't have pupils there, so most likely.jjgp1112 wrote:Is it just the scan quality or does Trunks have no pupils? A super rage mode, maybe?!
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.
Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

I was paying more attention in black than trunks. However now I can see eyebrows being really different, and trunk's hair.ArchedThunder wrote: Not really, faces are thin, eyebrows have extreme curvature and Trunks' hair is very angular.

Could you put spoiler block next time when you talk about future episodes.FortuneSSJ wrote:I would pair King Ryu with Tate, because that combo already proved to do wonders (episode 11 and 56).
But since Karasawa is one of my favourites, I'm hyped!
Didn't know who Koji Nashizawa was, until read Ajay's comment above. I liked Vegeta vs Beerus fight in Super more than in the Movie, so I'm curious to see what he will pull off now with a much better schedule.
It's cool to see new supervisors pop up, especially if we don't lose anyone.
Looks like Ryo Onishi is indeed gone for good, but where is Yamamuro? The action don't seem to stop at episode 65 if Black+Zamasu is indeed the Supreme God, so I want him back.
Strange Mini-Shida is still not an animation supervisor, considering the heavy role he had in ROF Special. Maybe like Shida he doesn't want to become one?!
Hard to guess which episode Shida will appear. I will put my bets on episode 64, the fusion episode.

considering 47 was the best episode delivered by tate, that's good newsSodhi wrote:yep, the same duo we had in #47.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #60]
So Ajay did you check the new dvds? Did they have any corrections?
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #60]
Considering the previous corrections on blu ray and dvd were minimal, i wouldn't be surprised if Goku vs Botomo still looks like ass.It shouldn't take one of the most wealthy animation studio's in Japan (toei) a Blu Ray release to patch the huge ass mistakes they made on this anime. Dragon Ball Super and One Piece should be their top priority considering how massive both series are and how much they earn because of it, it's ridiculous. These guys were given $300,000 from the Japanese government to ensure Battle of Gods would turn out good and even with that, they still dick around with their animes which are clearly wanted.Mazingerdestro wrote:So Ajay did you check the new dvds? In this box only the summoning of Super Shenlong should be corrected, and some shots of 40.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #60]
I haven't found any so far. I don't expect to, either. None of the episodes remaining really warrant correcting.Mazingerdestro wrote:So Ajay did you check the new dvds? Did they have any corrections?
The Shenlong summoning is the same, as is that ugly episode 45. Heck, I even checked Tate's #38 for good measure.
Nothing.

You can't say Toei isn't lazy on this one Ajay, this is what, their 3th dvd release with almost no changes.Ajay wrote:I haven't found any so far. I don't expect to, either. Perhaps , but considering how only ep 57 was above Dragon Ball standards. I expect much from them. Not to mention i wished Yoshihisa Hirano composed Super

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 60
Well, here it is!

Over the past week, I have redone almost every single entry in the catalogue with a brand new format. I also gave the main post a make over to hopefully make things a little clearer.
Here's the update post from the main page for more details:
EDIT: If you just fancy browsing through all of the images in no particular order, I have them uploaded here.

Over the past week, I have redone almost every single entry in the catalogue with a brand new format. I also gave the main post a make over to hopefully make things a little clearer.
Here's the update post from the main page for more details:
I've been ill all week, so I just vegetated in front of my PC and did all of this. I now never want to look at Dragon Ball ever again. I took 535 screenshots! Kill me. I hope it was worth it.In the previous iteration of the catalogue, each episode had one entry that contained ten images. The idea was to showcase the style of the supervisor, alongside any other standout styles from the episode. There were a few problems with this: firstly, without any explanatory text, it wasn't particularly clear who was who. This was especially true in cases where an episode had multiple supervisors and several standout styles, meaning there could be over three different styles within an entry. Unless you were already in the know - in which case, you didn't need this guide - this wasn't particularly useful. Secondly, learning different styles is a never-ending process and requires a lot of assumptions. This meant that some of the earliest entries weren't 100% correct and were never rectified.
In version 2.0, the entry format has been overhauled. Instead of ten images from many different people, there are now only four (with a few exceptions), each containing the supervisor's style exclusively (and correctly). In cases where an episode has multiple supervisors and their styles are known, an additional entry is given under their own heading, or within the original entry itself. Any standout key and 2nd key animators are now given their own labelled sections to avoid any confusion. Likewise, chief supervisor corrections are noted if they overshadow a significant portion of scenes.
Each entry contains my own observations and/or notes. These are sometimes tidbits about the episode's production, explanatory text on styles, or information on any outsourcing. This version of the catalogue does its best to avoid wild assumptions, so any real uncertainly included has been noted, too.
This type of project can never be perfect, so if you spot an error, think I'm wrong and can back it up, then please do let me know either in this thread, via PM, or on Twitter. Thanks!
EDIT: If you just fancy browsing through all of the images in no particular order, I have them uploaded here.

Jin Inaba is one person? Everytime Wezenheim and Ajay talked about him/her I always thought they were saying Jin and Aba

I don't get how you manage to do this, Ajay. Every time I think this page can't get any more detailed, it does. It's awesome.
It's like I can feel the strain of the schedule just by looking at these images and your comments.

I could have gotten into anything...and yet I chose the story aimed at young Japanese boys about martial arts, and later about super-powerful aliens punching each other really hard.
