Go to Preferences (under Tools), then click All under Show Settings, then go to Input/Codecs then to Access modules then go to Screen and if the Capture Fragment Size is 1 then change it to 0.

I had to figure that out all on my own a while ago, it's pretty straight forward, I hope.
Nope, it's already set a "0" it could be because of my upscaling/postprocessing from this guide I used -

It's been done countless times before, but...

Another option would be to use PowerDVD and configure the capture settings to capture the current video window size as opposed to the original video source. Depending on your monitor's resolution, this won't capture and exact 640 x 480 capture but the capture will be in a multiple of those dimensions so, if having the size be exactly 640 x 480 is that important, it can be easily resized without mucking with the proper dimensions. The only downside is it will only capture as a .BMP

Man, am I taking my sweet time watching these. Got a lot of other unwatched shows...

So I was just watching disc 11 the other day, and I was struck by an extremely noticeable change in color contrast going from episode 72 to 73. Like where you would see scene for episode 73 in the preview, but when you actually saw that part in the episode the contrast was all different. Kind of strange because I'd never noticed any episodes looking off-color before.

Here are a bunch of examples. Note that these are all from the Funimation Dragon Box; they are from the same disc. The right side images are from episode 72 and the left side are from episode 73.

You see what I'm talking about? Personally, it's kind of jarring. Almost looks like one of the old Funimation DVDs of these episodes in terms of color tone (although granted with sharper detail).

I assume it's like this on the Japanese Dragon Box as well, since Funimation is basically using the same encode.

The different color brightness seems to at least mostly return to normal after around episode 76 on that disc.

Did anyone else notice this? Think I'm crazy? Bring on the insults! (but in PM so we don't clutter the topic...)

I think it has something to do with the fact hat some of those episodes were printed on 35mm film prints instead of the usual 16mm prints.

I know there was a thread about this somewhere...

^^^^^^^

IIRC, as to what was previously discussed here, a few episodes in the 70s range were stored on a different type of film. So you can see the difference in clarity between those two episodes. Someone else will have to explain in more detail, because that's all I can remember.

Um...we're not even comparing those. He even says in the post that they're all from the FuniBox

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I know, I'm saying the Pony Canyon's Dragon Box are better than FUNimation's Dragon Box.

Just very, very, very, very, very slightly.

ANYWAY to me, the color tone looks different than the old FUNI's singles and yeah, the colors on Dragon Box are washed out.

I mean in terms of picture quality, which is what I am pretty sure he was referring to, given the reference to the 10% darker footage (which isn't even really a difference. FUNimation's boxes are 10% brighter to compensate for signal differences between Japan and America, so that the colors would appear the same on American TV's as they would on Japanese TV's).

Yeah, I think I remember something like that. I remember noticing a difference with those episodes on the Orange Bricks too. Maybe I can find that thread...

I just found that by tweaking my TVs color settings or watching on my computer monitor (which is darker) for just these episodes I can make it look a little more like the others.

it's make Dragon Ball Kai episode 34(?) looks good because of the 32mm film prints, so it looks good on HD.

Totally of course, personally for me the Japanese Dragonboxes picture quality is SLIGHTLY abit better than the FUNiBoxes.
