I can hear the same type of character out of them both. That's good because that means that the new Kai dub is translated well. That's why I like what I'm hearing. Ayres's acting is superb. He no longer has that Newstone imitation quality to his voice, and he has that slightly feminine, gentleman tone to his voice! It looks like the theory of him using a Young/Newstone-esque voice for the first few lines and then fading into his own performance in an effort to make Young's laugh in episode 1 less inconsistent was corrrect. 
Wonder how he will handle Nakao's crazy screams and that-time-of-the-month mood swings!
